I looked up a couple of things. Yes, the phrase "dire straits" comes from maritime navigation - though there were many, including the Strait of Malacca that is still notable for piracy problems. Cloves and Nutmeg originally grew only in the Spice Islands, though now most of the former is cultivated in Zanzibar, and Grenada has become a source for the latter.

Looks very interesting, but impossible for me because of Denver Socrates Cafe which I attend each week. Any chance you'll ever meet on an evening other than Thursday, or a noon? If not, let me know and I'll drop out.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
