Dear Meetup Members --
Many Meetup groups were spammed on Monday by a "Marcia" with a
link to a diet site. A second wave of spam started last night, this
time coming from a "Rhonda" with the same diet scam spam.
If you are a Meetup organizer, PLEASE TAKE THE STEPS BELOW
TO STOP SPAM ATTACKS from reaching your Meetup members.
Otherwise, please forward this email to the organizers of all
your Meetup groups, so we can stop this spam attack.
1. Go to your Organizer's "Group Settings" control panel.
2. Click "Optional features"
3. Scroll down to "Communication"
4. Find your Mailing List settings.
5a. Change setting to "Allow all members to send messages, but
I'll approve messages first." (This means you moderate all
emails, so you can prevent all spam from reaching your members.)
5b. OR, if you prefer, instead, select "Turn mailing list off"
(This disables the list completely, but you can still send
announce-only emails to your members.)
Again, if you are a Meetup organizer, please take these steps
immediately to protect your Meetup group members from these
spam attacks. Also, please forward this email to as many Meetup
organizers as you can, so we can stop these spam attacks quickly.
