Tonight's Book Club Meeting

From: Judah F.

Dear Book Lover --

This is a quickie reminder that we meet tonight at 7 PM in the Denver Press Club (1330 Glenarm Place downtown) to discuss the August nonfiction book selection, American Lion: Andrew Jackson in The White House, by Jon Meacham. (Click here for more information.)

As ever, you do not need to read all or any of the book to participate in our lively discussion, which will be especially true for tonight. I'm confident Jackson's story will be a springboard for robust dialog on hot topics -- e.g., the role of government in business, slavery then and now, Native American rights, the rise of an imperial presidency, or the role of populism in politics -- let alone an exploration of Jackson's complex character.

We now ask $3 at the door to cover Press Club usage and our fee. Naturally, no one will be turned away.

See you tonight!

-- Judah

P.S. Please nominate more books for November and January by sending an email to assistant organizer Francis. Also, we are now looking for someone to host the December holiday party in a private home or community clubhouse, ideally in or near central Denver (email me to discuss). Thanks again.
