Our client is seeking a programmer/application developer with strong technical and problem solving skills to design, develop and maintain a variety of database-driven applications for Web sites. Technologies utilized include SQL, MySQL, HTML, ColdFusion versions 8-10, and other scripting languages.

Job duties and responsibilities of the position:

Design and build databases based on object-oriented, SQL compliant languages

Use ColdFusion and other scripting languages to design and develop Web-based interfaces for databases

Develop Web-based applications that adhere to best practices

Maintain databases and applications and build add-on modules as required.

Participate in code reviews and ensure that all solutions are aligned to pre-defined architectural specifications; identify/troubleshoot application code-related issues

Incorporate cyber security and other government requirements into database designs, scan completed applications for vulnerabilities and remediate

Collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze business and functional requirements, develop formal specifications, and model data relationships and processes

Develop logic flowcharts, revises and updates programs as required, and provide the required documentation

Code, test, debug, implement, and maintain Web applications and components for multiple Web portals

Prepare operating instructions, compile system development documentation


Required Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:

Senior-level ColdFusion skills and strong knowledge of SQL relational databases

A thorough understanding of SQL, SQL Server, and SQL administrator

Thorough knowledge of Cold Fusion v8-v10, SQL, JavaScript, HTML5, DHTML, XML, and Web development tools and techniques

Portfolio of prior work showing competence in CSS, HTML, JavaScript/JQuery, and/or AJAX

Ability to work on multiple Web application projects in multiple Web development environments

Experience working in a collaborative team environment

Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with pre-existing code

Ability to analyze requirements and rapidly model and prototype applications

Solid application design, coding, testing, maintenance and debugging skills

Good project management and excellent customer service skills


Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to mentor and train staff on ColdFusion development and application integration

Experience with FLEX, PHP, and Web services

Working knowledge of Drupal CMS v.6. and v.7, including integrating modules

Strong knowledge of PHP and Ruby on Rails

Experience working with scientific/technical or financial data

Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility requirements for Web applications

Advanced understanding of object-orientated principles

Experience with PDA and Mobile apps

Strong understanding of REST Services and Web Services

Utilize software versioning tools such as SVN or GitHub


Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience. At least seven years of relevant experience. Must have proven experience on ColdFusion projects. Ideally we are looking for a self-motivated programmer who has experience in ColdFusion 8.x and 9.x and 10x, PHP, JavaScript, JQuery, database abstraction, workflow, and versioning.
