Bridget Ellis' innovative "Universidad Del
Baile Latino" is an in-depth workshop series offered twice
each year with a focus on Social Latin
dances. This weekend, we will be offering an
intensive two-day workshop on the
exciting Bachata. Whether you are just becoming
familiar with this dance, or are seeking to perfect your
technique, you won't want to miss this opportunity.
BACHATA WORKSHOP WEEKEND SCHEDULE
February 20, 2010
1-2 PM - Bachata
We'll cover the history, basic steps, directional changes,
timing, frame and more so you can literally get started on the
2-3 PM -
Bachata Patterns I
You'll be introduced to some basic, "gotta know
them" patterns. You'll be getting lots of dancing in with
this class to help you build a strong foundation which will help
in the next classes.
PM - Bachata Patterns II
We'll step it up a notch in this class. You'll learn about
timing variations, rotational movement, frame changes and linking
patterns so your dance will look more and more authentic.

1-2 PM -
Authentic Latin Motion doesn't mean you just swing your hips
to and fro. There's a lot more to it and in this class you'll
learn how to move your ribs, your hips, ground your steps, and
much more. This can be a challenge to learn but well worth the
2-3 PM -
What? Bachata footwork? Yes! This style of Bachata is
becoming more and more popular because of the innovative rhythm
patterns and exciting movement style. You'll learn a whole new
way to set yourself apart on the dance floor.
PM - Bachata Dips & Leans
As with most dancing you can certainly add some extra flair
to your Bachata with some appropriate dips, leans and close
movements. Learn what's comfortable, what's cool and, of course,
what not to do.
