THE PARADE OF LIGHTS IS NO LONGER TAKING APPLICATIONS TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS EVENT. Every year, the Parade of Lights is one of Denver's best holiday traditions. It's a festive mix of music, floats, and giant balloons (think Macy's parade) through the streets of downtown Denver. This is your chance to handle one of those massive balloons during the parade! Balloon handlers are responsible for working together as a team to maneuver and move a giant helium balloon along the streets of Downtown. We have to be careful not to wrap it around a lamp post or something (training is provided, thank goodness)!! If we get enough people, it will be our group handling a balloon all by ourselves (yikes!). This is a great opportunity to meet other singles in our group, as we have to work as a team, and we also have quite a bit of "down time" before and after to chat and mingle. The Parade of Lights is asking that if you volunteer, that you volunteer for both evenings. However, if you are only available for one evening, please feel free to do that as well. We need a group of 20-35 people each evening. You are required to fill out a form and waiver to participate. You can find the waiver here. Please fill it out and return it to the Parade of Lights no later than Friday, October 31, 2009. Once you have turned in your application, please let me know that you have done so, and whether or not you will be able to work both nights. For your participation, you will receive a free sweatshirt and snacks and beverages at the end of the parade. I am asking for a $10 donation to participate for either one night or both. As many of you know, every year we sponsor a charity for the holiday season. All funds collected from your participation in this activity will be used to purchase items for this year's charity, The Mayor's Youth House. More details about the Mayor's Youth House will be posted as soon as I get the Holiday Party details together (tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, December 9). Details as to meeting place, training, etc. will be sent to us by the Parade of Lights sometime around Thanksgiving. Cost: $10.00 |

Celebrate the season with other singles and help out the kids at the Mayor's Youth House, too! A spirited evening with holiday-themed activities, prizes, food, and fun! Bring an item from the donation list and get your first drink free, or cash donations are always welcome. The Mayor's Youth House helps kids that are aging out of the foster system become self-sufficient and live on their own. These are kids that are working hard to overcome the challenges that life has dealt them. They live in an apartment community in central Denver under the guidance of a resident counselor. They all have jobs and many of them are single parents. We will be providing them once again with laundry baskets filled with cleaning supplies - isn't that the last thing anyone wants to buy when money is tight? Each young adult has also selected a gift that they would like to receive. The list of gift wishes will be published as soon as I receive it! Many of them ask for very simple things. If you'd like to make a donation by credit card or cash, please contact Cheri at 303-295-3000. Or, if you have family, friends, or co-workers that might be willing to help, we'd really appreciate it! All registration fees from this event will be used to purchase items from the list that are not donated. Registration fee includes all of the evenings activities, but no food or beverage. Jazz at Jack's does have a full dinner menu available from Hard Rock Cafe. $2 parking will be available in the Pavilions parking garage (enter on Welton just past 15th St.) with a voucher from Jazz at Jack's. Please let us know when you have purchased one of these items so we may remove it from the list. Also, please bring your receipt with you in case we have duplicate gifts - we may be able to exchange for other items not received. Thanks!! Cost: $10.00 |

This has been called "the holiday show that you shouldn't take your kids to"! It's an evening of uproarious laughter at the expense of Santa, A Christmas Carol, the three wise men, treasured holiday carols, the NRA, Country Buffet, and other holiday standards. From the comical geniuses at Rattlebrain, this is the MUST-SEE HOLIDAY COMEDY! Originally performed in 2002 and 2003, Santa's Big Red Sack has brought more laughs to Denver audiences than any other holiday production. This year Rattlebrain Theater is bringing the Sack back to the Avenue Theater. The 2009 version of Santa's Big Red Sack contains updated favorites from the original show, along with some hilarious new material. No holiday tradition or cliché is safe from skewering, including Christmas carols, the three wise men, Scrooge and the Cratchets, Rudolph and family get-togethers. We will meet beforehand so we can mingle and get to know one another (location still TBD). Tickets will be handed out there. We will head over to the Avenue Theater at approximately 7:10. Show begins at 7:30 p.m. YOU MUST PURCHASE A TICKET IN ADVANCE. A "YES" RSVP DOES NOT COUNT UNTIL PAID FOR! Cost: $20.00 |

The Avs are on a roll heading into the holiday season even without our beloved Joe Sakic. All of those youngsters are really stepping up! Then we'll head over to the Pepsi Center to cheer on our Avs! Our seats are located in Section 332, Rows 6-9 (upper level corner), but don't you know, there's not a bad seat in the house! AT $35, THESE TICKETS ARE $5 BELOW FACE VALUE, and we only have 50 tickets available. We always sell out, so sign up early! Note: the male/female ratio will not be monitored for this event. If you cannot meet us at Oak Tavern prior to the game, it is your responsibility to let me know by noon on Saturday, December 19 so I can leave your tickets at Will Call. Otherwise, we will plan on seeing you at the Oak Tavern to get your tickets! Cost: $35.00 |

We had so much fun, we’re doing it again! This time our cruise adventure is taking us to the Bahamas. We’ll be spending 4 nights on the high seas, with ports of call in Cococay and Nassau in the Bahamas, as well as Key West. Not only do we want you to enjoy all of the wonderful things about cruising the Bahamas, we’ll help you “cruise for love” too! In addition to all of the fabulous entertainment opportunities on the ship, we will also have group-specific, private activities such as a Welcome Party, Gambling On Love, and special round-robin dinner seating. Nassau, Bahamas: For a city now known for its warming sun and balmy breezes, Nassau has a tumultuous past. First settled by the English, the area was contested by England, France and Spain. For many years, Nassau was a home base for notorious pirates, and it was burned to the ground by the Spanish three different times. Since 1740, however, visitors from all over the world in search of both relaxation and adventure have made Nassau their favorite destination. Cococay, Bahamas: Surrounded by the gentle, translucent waters of the Bahamas chain lies the secluded island of Coco Cay®. With its white-sand beaches and spectacular surroundings, CocoCay® is a wonderland of adventure. Reserved exclusively for Royal Caribbean guests, this tropical paradise has recently been updated with new aquatic facilities, nature trails and a ton of great places to just sit back, relax and enjoy a tropical drink. Key West, Florida: Ernest Hemingway made wild, colorful Key West his home, and you will want to do the same. Home to modern-day adventurers, artists and poets, the island's charming Old Town teems with restaurants, bars and unique shops. Add pristine coral reefs, coconut palms and a laid-back attitude that's truly contagious, and it's easy to see why so many visitors to Key West never leave. Cruise Pricing: Interior room - $489 (per person, double occupancy) or $649 (single). Outside cabin (no balcony, but window) - $539 (pp, double) or $729 (single). Balcony suite - $1,094. For triple or quad options, please contact cheri@rockymtnsingle Initial deposit is $200, due no later than 1/20/10 to guarantee the price. If you put down your deposit prior to 1/20/10, you will receive an additional $25 in shipboard credit! $100 of that is refundable until 2/10/10, the date the final payment is due. $100 is non-refundable. You are required to have a passport for this trip. INCLUDED: ship accommodations, ocean transportation, meals, some non-alcoholic beverages, entertainment, gratuities and special round-robin dinner seating for our group (versus assigned). NOT INCLUDED: airfare, transfers, hotel in Miami the night before (recommended), optional shore and land excursions, certain alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, casino gaming, and spa treatments. Note: The cruise is not exclusively single, but our group will have single-specific activities and gatherings such as a Welcome Party, Gambling On Love, and more! We will also have special round-robin dinner seating for our group so that you have a chance to get to know more people. This cruise is being marketed nationwide, so we'll have a large, diverse group of people! You must sign up on the Rocky Mountain Singles website. When you sign up, please indicate which cabin type you would prefer, as well as your full legal name. Also let me know if you already have a roommate please! |
