Singles Hike Shrine Mountain Trail in Vail Sat., July 26th!
Mary Ann and Laura will lead this hike!
Shrine Mountain trail is a picturesque hike combining green meadows, pine trees, interesting rock formations and a bevy of multi-colored wild flowers. The trailhead emanates from the parking lot and will culminate for us at a ridge with gorgeous views, where we will also convene for lunch before heading back. This hike will be 4.2 miles roundtrip and is considered to be easy/intermediate with some climbing past the pine tree area. In terms of what to bring on the hike, I suggest what I will be bringing: plenty of water, lunch, and a poncho (just in case there's rain...)
To get there, I suggest we meet at 8AM at the Wooly Mammoth Park and Ride lot in Morrison. At that point, we could decide on how to carpool to Vail. To get to the Park and Ride, take 1-70 west to the Morrison exit 259. Take your first left at the frontage road. There is a gas station across the street. I have a light blue Prius, and to facilitate things, I will be holding up a sign identifying the Meetup group.
Dogs are allowed on this hike although we are not sure if off or on leash.
Hope to see you there!
