Ostara

Well, the calendar says that Ostara is the day before, but it also says that it is the first day of Spring, so what does it know?

Ever wonder how Bunny rabbits laying colored eggs have anything to do with the Christian holiday of Easter? How about the way they determine when that holiday is going to be? Why am I talking about Christian holidays in a Pagan Meetup?

Come and find out!

Greyhart, I had a thought for a topic sometime...discussing what to do when leaders go astray or get....more weird than usual.

OK, I'm 100% on-board with you on this. The article that I previously cited led to some interesting links/information that, I believe, folks need to be aware of. Specifically, there's a "Community Statement on Religious Sexual Abuse," which was written by Pagans. Prior to this episode with KK, I'd had no idea that leaders in our Community had addressed this issue in such a thoughtful fashion. Here's the link to this statement: http://www.brendanmye...

Also, too, I would like add that my history in the Craft has been checkered with episodes that could only be characterized as "egregious" abuses of power by those who should have known better.

We need to protect ourselves and newcomers far better than has been done in the past.

I remember a series of articles about 20 years ago about sexual abuse in the craft but will admit that I haven't kept up on the subject so have not seen much of the recent information. The number of people who choose this path as a healing place after experiencing abuse or invalidation from another path is historically pretty high. We need to maintain a high standard for protecting and validating those who come to trust us...but we also need to teach them to see the signs and protect themselves.

Heading to the OR coast for spring break. Can you ask if people want to continue Community Potluck? Is Friday night or Sunday afternoon better?

I can set up a poll, and let people give answers.

The poll is up, the link is http://www.meetup.com...

It gives you two possible yes answers, depending on the day you like, or one No answer, if you're not interested.

This is the evening I'll be hosting Vernal Equinox offering rites at Fairy Glen Farms (1065 Cherryvale, Boulder, CO), so I won't be able to attend. If folks are looking for something to do before the Meetup, come make offerings in Boulder (it's only 30 min from the farm to Caribou Coffee - and the rite should be no more than an hour) https://www.facebook.com/events/258603654311257/

I am going to try my hardest to make this, but likely won't be able to do Perkins after this time.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
