Journey To The Underworld - A Samhain Ritual

A couple of weeks ago I posted an email to the group asking who was interested in a journey to the Underworld at Samhain. I got an impressive response, from far more people than I expected, so I'm going to do it.

This is a physical journey, not a meditation. In this ritual you will be going into the Underworld where you will meet with and speak to the dead. This will be an intimate and personal ritual. Everyone will take something different away from it. It is a Sacred Mystery that you have the opportunity to participate in.

This will be different than anything most of the members of this group have ever done before.

Because of time limitations, you have just one week to sign up for this ritual, and unlike my normal Meetup. if you do not RSVP, you will not be allowed to attend. There is also a limit on the number of people who will be allowed to participate.

Do not RSVP unless you are sure that you will be able to make it to the ritual.

If you do plan to attend:

  • You must wear ritual clothing, or funeral attire.
  • Each person attending must bring two coins.
  • You should bring a warm coat for the outdoor part of the ritual.
  • You may want to bring a blanket or lawn chair.
  • We are going into the Underworld. There will be stairs.
  • You must RSVP before Oct. 29th. You will not be allowed to RSVP after, or just show up.

This is what I meant in my email, by being "willing to do whatever it takes" to attend this ritual. Those wearing street clothes will not be allowed to take part. A changing area will be provided if you need it.

Because of the nature of this ritual, children will not be allowed to participate.

This is not a ritual for everyone. Only a relative few are ready for this type of journey. If you are one of those few, you need to RSVP now before all the spots are taken.

It was a very interesting experience. It was also good to see people who I know as well as meet new people who I hope to see at future meetups.

I'm still feeling the after-effects, too, Joan! =)
But then, that was just another stage in the journey. Still a lot of work to do.

I am still feeling the after effects...thoughts and emotions come in and out of my mind...subtly, but powerfully.

It was like nothing I've ever had an oppertunity to encounter. Greyheart truly out did himself & should he take on this event again. I won't miss it for the world. I'm still learning names & faces so If I did not send you a "Good to see you" Please forgive my not knowing your profile pics. yet. However, Truly from my heart it was GRATE to see you ALL.

Thank you to Greyheart and all involved for your commitment and all the time it must have taken to put together a ritual of this caliber.

A great deal of effort was obviously expended in preparation, and the experience was unique and meaningful. I am glad I was able to attend.

This ritual was absolutely amazing! Thank you again for allowing Mars and Alora to attend. Mars said he really liked the energy, that it felt really good to be there, and to tell you thanks for the experience. It was an incredible journey for all of us.

I'm glad that we were able to pull a ritual like this together. I really have to thank all the people who helped me run the ritual. They were able to understand what I wanted, and then did a fantastic job bringing it to life.

Thank you to Greyhart and the rest of the organizers for this deeply affecting ritual. Looks like a lot of hours of building and planning went into it.

I know this is totaly off topic & I know that this may become a real long discription for some of you..., however, I've always wanted to know how people feel about this. Can anyone out there tell me what 'your' deffanitions are about what are the differances between a 'Witch' & a 'Wiccan'? And who better to ask then a bunch of Witch's?
You can answer right to my e-mail so it won't put all kinds of stuff in other peoples mail boxes that they may not wish to read. So... I look very forward to hearing what everyone has to say.
    Thank you & Blessings

    Hello,
I am a newly practicing wiccan looking for a coven,
and I would like to still come, but i missed the rsvp dead line. I am fine with siting on the floor, if you would allow me to come.

I know you didn't join the Meetup until after the RSVP for this ritual closed, unfortunately it is just too late to accept another person. There will be other rituals, and our next Meetup is Nov. 16th. Come join us for the Meetup on the 16th, and meet some of us. There are several of us who host rituals on a regular basis.

Ok blonde question what is considered Ritual Attire?

    November 1, 2012

    • Greyhart

Traditionally, Ritual Attire would be a robe that is used only for ritual and spiritual purposes, a Ritual Robe. When I first started practicing, I used a pair of wrap pants and a particular shirt as my ritual attire. I know one Priestess who wears a specific black dress to ritual. I feel strongly that having clothing specifically for ritual, helps a Witch to get into the ritual frame of mind.

I'm bringing apples and pomegranates to offer/share. Thanks for your offerings, Samm!

    October 30, 2012

    • Greyhart

This is not your usual ritual, so there will be plenty of time for people to enjoy snacks and drinks. We'll have a table set up for food, that everyone can enjoy. Those who want to bring something to share, are encouraged to do so.

      October 30, 2012

    • Greyhart

The RSVP's have shut down. I will be sending out an email shortly (hopefully I won't be working 12 hour shifts all week) to those of you who have an RSVP, with a reminder of what to bring, where we'll be, and my phone number in case you get lost.

How do I check to see if I already RSVP'd? I'm sure I did;i just don't see my name.

    October 29, 2012

    • Greyhart

You show as having an RSVP.

I'm excited to be attending and very happy to see that some familiar faces will be there!

How can we consent "to do whatever it takes" when that is unknown. I believe that free will will enter the picture at the moment it needs to. I don't plan to do anything against my will. If that is what is being asked of us, I'm out.

    October 24, 2012

    • Greyhart

Doing whatever it takes, is exactly as I put in the announcement. Things like showing up if you say you are going to come, wearing proper attire for the ritual, bringing two coins, etc... There may places during the ritual where people are not comfortable continuing. They will be allowed to opt out, and not finish the Mystery.

This is going to bea very intense ritual. As Greyheart mentioned...."you must be willing to do whatever it takes".

  • Deedee

Not sure if I'm ready for this one...my husband is a medium and he already has trouble with the time around Halloween - so I had better not participate in anything that might amplify that. Enjoy!

sadly, I'm not able to attend this - it's the same night as Earth Temple Samhain Ritual... well, wishing everyone a blessed Samhain and may the Ancestors kiss you gently in rememberance.

    October 22, 2012

  • Greyhart

I will send email a couple of days before the ritual, to those who are attending, with my phone number so that you can call if you get lost on your way to the ritual.
