RE: [witches-1411] Re: Open Letter to the Pagan Community from a Fellow Priestess and President of Friends of Denver Parks

Have you contacted the local TV News about this? All of them have a link for telling them about potential news stories or news tips on their websites. I suspect that because most people assume Open Space means it is protected, that will get the attention of the news right there.

Subject: [witches-1411] Re: Open Letter to the Pagan Community from a Fellow Priestess and President of Friends of Denver Parks

Thanks for posting my letter to the community Greyhart.  I appreciate your help.

We have some amazing and beautiful photo’s of the Great Horned Owls that live in this park.  The fledglings photos are heart melting.

You will see why I have taken up the fight with my Sword, Wand, Cup and Pentacle.  It is the Hill that I have chosen to die upon.

For those interested.  We have a website; http://friendsofdenverparks.org/  Please sign up for the mailing list.

I continue to feel guided that the Pagan Community is where the alliances that I need will take place.  We of all people know the spiritual value of these parks.

Just to be clear there is no legal protection for Open Spaces or Natural Areas.

The City and County of Denver (City Attorney and City  Councilman) has stated publicly that they have the legal right to administratively dispose of these lands as they see fit.

This is why I am fighting this battle to stop the City and County of Denver from developing this Natural Area.  What makes this issue uniquely important is that

this has never been done before in Denver.  If they get away with this first attempt then Pandora’s Box is opened, a legal precedent has been established and the

rest of our Natural Spaces and Open Spaces are in jeopardy of development.

We have to win this one.   We can effect policy here and now and protect our own lands here in Denver.  Colorado is where our energies are best placed.

The newspapers have been running articles at least once a week, and this looks to potentially effect elections.   Meg Schomp who is running for Denver Public

School Board has been carrying a petition for us, and worked side by side with me at the Peoples Fair.

I need your help.

This is the next pressing issue.  We need to pack the courtroom with supporters.  Please come.  I will be likely called to the stand.

On Wednesday, June 12, 2013 Denver District Judge Herbert L. Stern III will decide whether to grant a preliminary injunction preventing

Mayor Hancock and city council from trading  10.7 acres of Hampden Heights North Park in southeast Denver for an office building downtown.

The hearing will start at 9 am  in Courtroom 376 in the City and County Building, 1437 Bannock St.

Donations are needed for printing costs, t-shirt printing, and booth space rental.  We rented a booth space for the Gay Pride Festival.

The attorney John Case is working for us Pro Bono but we have to pay for the Friends of Denver Parks expenses.

If you would like to circulate a petition please contact me.

I would be happy to come speak at a meet up if someone wants to organize that opportunity.
