Chinese Paintings Exhibition

Something to look forward to for 2014 - our first meetup of the year with our friends at the V&A.

This will be to catch the Chinese Paintings Exhibition before it finishes.

http://www.vam.ac.uk/content/exhibitions/masterpieces-of-chinese-painting/

* Details for Friday... *

We will be based initially in our usual room in the education centre (Sackler Centre).

The closest entrance is on Exhibition Road. You go straight ahead as you enter into the sculpture gallery and turn left in the middle of the gallery into the Buddhist gallery. Walk to the end of that gallery and turn left into the Sackler Centre.

(please note that this entrance has stairs. If anyone needs step free access then they will need to come in the main entrance on Cromwell Road).

Either myself or Marisa (our V&A host) will be there to greet you.

We will have wine/soft drinks and a chance to mingle before Anne (our V&A guide) gives a short introductory talk about the exhibition. We will enter the exhibition at 20.00/20.15. It will take about an hour to go round, so most people will finish by 21.00-21.30.

Afterwards we will meet outside the exhibition where you have the option of going home or walking into South Kensington to a local pub for drinks.

Really beautiful work through 1200 years of Chinese art.....WOW, having the lecture before with a glass of wine was a brilliant touch Martin

Lecture beforehand was superb, it really set the scene and explained the exhibition nicely. I felt sorry for the normal visitors who didn't necessarily have that same background knowledge.

Hi Martin, I really look forward to join the event, but I'm still on the waiting list. Do I have to wait till there's a vacancy to attend? If there's no vacancies at last, can I buy a ticket to join you? Thanks, Frank

    January 16, 2014

    • Martin

Hi Frank - yes of course you can still join us if you buy a ticket but I am sure you will be fine. Places normally become available as people drop out in the afternoon

Hello Martin I am on the wait list. Do members often drop out at the last minute. I don't have a smartphone so I rely on PC.

    Best wishes

    January 14, 2014

    • Martin

Yes Marie I am afraid people do often drop out at the last minute - but there are others who change their RSVP over the coming days. I see you are top of the waiting list so I suspect you will get a place soon.

      January 13, 2014

I went to this exhibition a couple of days ago and there is a cost. It was £13.20 for me to get in. It was an amazing exhibition and worth the cost, but I thought I'd let you know, it is not free entry.

    January 12, 2014

    • Richard

Fatima, entry is free to people who are on the list to get in.

Martin has an arrangement with the V&A especially for our group :)

      Thanks Martin :)
