A science lecture..

For the scientifically curious amongst you - a chance to attend a lecture with Art & Science meetup group.. ** please note this is a paid event **

"How to make a human: Embryological and evolutionary development of a human", Presented by Professor Alice Roberts and chaired by Professor Richard Dawkins

"It’s the closest we ever come, as humans, to a transformation as profound as that from a caterpillar into a butterfly. In the first two months of our existence, each of us changed from a single egg to a flat disc, to a hollow tube, to a little creature with stumpy arms and legs, to something that looked recognisably human. And in the course of that embryological development, there were echoes of earlier stages of evolution, harking back to very ancient ancestors - ancestors we share with insects, fish, amphibians and reptiles."

Time: 19h00 (lecture starts at 19h30 and finishes at 21h00).

To attend the lecture, you need to register at:

...unless one of the humanists gets there first... :-)

On my phone the description is enticing, but cuts off before the bit about needing a ticket. The event is sold out and no tickets on the door...

Hopefully see you at some point during the evening. I'll be arriving with the meetup geeks having originally rsvp'd with the humanists. Prof Alice Roberts is rather popular :-)

I have a ticket. Just aware how easy it would be to not realise one is required.

I did wonder why you'd be there without one! I guess I'll see you there then...!

Just read comments I didn't realise you needed to get a ticket either. Maybe come along another time.

I'm in a similar situation: I just realised that I need a ticket for the event and didn't get one beforehand (I thought I did…). Oh well! Hope all attending have a good time :-)

This sounds really good. First time I went to an event through this depression group though. Not sure what to expect and finally bringing myself to come on one of these events.

    Hi there

So good news is that the tube strike has been called off so fingers crossed our travelling will be ok tomorrow evening.

My number is 07939 576216. I shall have an "Art & Science Meetup" sign for you to look out for and will be in the reception area. I think we should get to our seating by 715 so if you are running late you may not be able to sit with us. However after the lecture we can all meet back in reception and maybe go for a drink if that is the common consensus.

By the way there is another Meetup group also signed up for this event with 30+ attendees so make sure you don't get absorbed into their midst :)

Just an advance warning, possible tube strike this day.

I'll be there, but signed up with another group a while ago.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
