80's club night - Electric Dreams

The venue is a small, gothic themed pub with an intimate atmosphere, and a decor rather reminiscent of a 70's Hammer Horror film set ! Drinks are at pub prices with periodic special offers.

Another great meet. met some cool people once again, some old! faces, and many new. Reasonable entry price, loved most of the tunes, cooler 80's danceable stuff, singalong stuff, with a mere smidgeon of cheese! had to drag myself off the dance floor. Suffered over the weekend for it as I seriously overdid it, twas having a very good time! All the others in our gang I spoke to said they enjoyed it too. Great to be in an environment where it didn't matter what we wore etc... Friendly, mostly mature crowd. I could see why Martin chose this event. Only negatives was: gents cubicle in loo was shut; have a bowel condition was apprehensive about coming anyway, and was lucky as I could just about get away with not needing to use it-perhaps it was not in fit state or gets trashed by the patrons! I hate late nights, find them exhausting (but love grooving). do hope to see everyone soon.
    love
    xx

Thanks Martin, had a really enjoyable night. It's not like me not to dance, but I was just really enjoying listening to the music! Had some really enjoyable conversations too, will definitely come again :)

Looks like I wont be able to make this today, caring responsibilities have put me under house arrest again, :( was really looking forward to this, as I didn't get to celebrate my birthday yesterday, Hope everyone has a great time. and one day I may get to attend an event, but with my luck it doesn't look very likely, Cheers Martin,

Martin dude. Please also ask if they have a cloakroom, and how much it costs. Cheers.

    • Martin

Heya Ketan - no cloakroom as its not a club as such - so its a case of bunging your coat over a chair :)

First step in breaking the work-home-work-dread the weekends routine! :)

    • Terry

Good luck Emma, I know exactly what you mean, it can be a pretty depressing routine doing the same 'usual' stuff from one weekend to the next. Then back to the same work routine for the rest of the following week. Wash, rinse, repeat. Time to break that cycle. :)

My mum used to love Gary Newman, she said she loved his gorgeous eyes. I must admit, i do like his song 'Cars', which my mum would play endlessly. You could say it began to grow on me.

Who doesn't love "Don't You Want Me" by The Human League? The 1981 Christmas number one ( despite the fact the song has nothing to do with Christmas ) and one of the greatest songs ever in my opinion!

Should be a great night for those of us of a certain age! The 80's were the greatest musical decade ever in my opinion! ABC, Bananarama, Culture Club, The Cure, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Erasure, Eurythmics, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, The Human League, Michael Jackson, Level 42, Madness, Madonna, Orchestral Manouvers In The Dark, Pet Shop Boys, Spandau Ballet, Ultravox, Wham etc! Wish I still had my "Frankie Say" t-shirts!

I remember every one of those groups, and like a lot of their songs too. Just a few more to add to the list: Adam and the Ants, Yazoo, Altered Images, Bad Manners, Billy Ocean, Blondie, Five Star, Phil Collins, Queen, Shakin Stevens, Tears for Fears, The House Martins, The Beautiful South, UB40, The Who etc, etc.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
