Tour of BBC Nottingham

BBC Nottingham is the home of East Midlands Today and Radio Nottingham, along with Inside Out and The Politics Show.

We will need to meet at 5.30pm at the BBC Studios on London Road. The tour will start at 5.45pm prompt and will last until 8pm. Please don't be late or you will miss the tour!

It will be a look around BBC Radio Nottingham and the East Midlands Today studios and will include the chance to watch the evening East Midlands Today programme go out live from the conference room.

There is quite a bit of walking around as we “walk and talk”. However, there are chairs everywhere so you can perch as you go!

For Health & Safety reasons, this event is not available for children.

The BBC have asked me to ensure that everyone that attends has read the following:

Car Parking. Please read carefully.

There are NO parking facilities at the BBC Site.

Even though there is a layby outside the front of the building, it is not owned by the BBC and we have no control over its use.

There is no guarantee of parking spaces, if room, then members of public can park in the layby, otherwise the nearest car parks include the Broadmarsh and Stoney Street.

The BBC is on a private road and therefore parking anywhere along the road is at your own risk.

Please make sure all your party are aware of the parking regulations. Parking problems could lead to your tour being delayed. (This has happened on several occasions in the past.)

This event is FREE - £0

We are limited to a maximum of 12 people on this event (BBC rules not mine!) so if you do sign up and then find later that you can't come, could you please update your RSVP as it will then free up a slot. Thanks.

The BBC have asked me to confirm definite numbers for Thursday, which I have done as 12. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, if you do find that you cannot attend, PLEASE update your RSVP. If you are on the waiting list, please keep any eye on the site, as you may move up on to the "yes" list at very short notice!! If you are currently on the waiting list but you know that you will not be free on Thursday evening or you would be unable to get at short notice (a few hours), could you also update your RSVP please. I will not be very popular if there aren't 12 people there on Thursday, so your co-operation with this is very much appreciated :-)

I've been having a chat with some of my work colleagues and it seems the bbc studios is 10 min walk from nottingham station street tram spot. Rich if you got the train to nottingham main train station, it is just 10 mins walk from there. When you come out onto station street ask where London road is and most peeps will know.Or you could drive to The Forest park and ride for the tram to nottingham station street. I think the website for tram is nottingham NET.

    • Amy L.

I'm here and it's easy to find from station street tram stop

I'm amazed a spot has become available, but seems as it has, is there going to be a meeting place in Derby?

    October 13, 2013

    • Steve

Not for this event. As people are coming from different areas and as there are a number of methods that you can use to get to Nottingham (bus, train, car, tram etc.), I have decided not to organise any formal transport arrangements for this occasion. We will meet outside the BBC at 5.30pm.

Sorry I cannot attend the event, now, but am sure that someone will enjoy the place that has been offered me. Enjoy, and best wishes.

Thanks, sorry you cannot attend now.

      October 9, 2013

  • Anne h.

Yeah, i have a place now. Looking forward to this.

  • Andrew

Looking forward to this. For parking expect to walk 10 minutes and you'll be fine. There are various car parks 10 mins away. Don't try to park outside or even 3-5 minutes away as it's all pay and display.

If you are signed up to this event and you are still planning to come, you don't need to respond to this comment but if you do find that you are now no longer able to attend, could you please update your RSVP, as there are now 10 people on the waiting list. I have asked the BBC if they could add a couple of extra places but I'm afraid that space doesn't allow this.

Hi. I read that parking there will not be easy. Could we consider the option to go by taxi, sharing the price?

    October 2, 2013

    • Steve

I'm not organising any formal transport arrangements for this event as there are a number of different ways that people might want to use to get there - bus, train, the park and ride (tram) and also taxi, if you prefer. I'm sure if anyone would like to share a taxi with you from Derby, they will be happy to e-mail you to make arrangements.

I guess that's why you have to book 6 months in advance :)

How do I put my pal on the waiting list? Does she have to join the Derby Sociables group in order to be on the waiting list?

    March 22, 2013

    • Steve

That's one option and then she can join the waiting list in her own right .... or you'll will have to wait until there is a spot (if someone drops out) and then you will be able to add a +1.

      March 22, 2013

  • Karen D.

I'll change it to just me

    March 22, 2013

  • Karen D.

Been meaning to do this for ages

    March 22, 2013

    • Steve

Hi Karen. We're limited to a maximum of 12 people on this visit, so because you've updated your rsvp to add a +1, it has now moved you BOTH on to the waiting list. You could just book for yourself and then add the +1 later if a spot comes free - otherwise you'll be both be on the waiting list and someone else could actually take the free spot. I can't change the way it does that, it's automated within the meetup site.
