25 Mile Charity Walk

You are invited to a 25 mile charity walk for Friends of the Peak District.
Seasoned walkers – do you fancy a challenge?
This is a beautiful 25 mile walk through the countryside of the peak district passing through Great Longstone, Foolow, Grindleford, Baslow and Bakewell. If you enjoy walking and the countryside you’ll absolutely love this and, apparently, there is food at the end of it.
The walk starts at 8.30 am on Saturday 13th April from Thornbridge Hall in Ashford in the Water. It costs £13.50 to register with the money and any sponsorship you can raise going to the Friends of the Peak District charity whose aim is to care for and protect the peak district for generations to come.
For more information visit www.friendsofthepeakdistrict.org.uk. You can also register on line at the website or download a form to print and post. Alternatively you can register by phoning[masked] 5822. You need to register for the Magnificent Peak District Walk.
Hope you will join me for what should be a wonderful day.

The organiser's say the average is 8 hours. On that basis if we signed in as close to 8 am as possible and started walking at 8.30 am you should get back in time. It depends how fast we walk as a group though. For me I think it would take the full 8 or even more. Remember, to take part, you need to register for the walk with the organiser's. Although it would be good to all travel together, an alternative would be for you to take a separate car which would make it easier for you to double back

    Hi Steph
This looks brilliant. Have you any idea what time it will finish, as i've got to be back in Ashby for 6:30pm. Taking a guess at around 6-7hours?
    Cheers

I am thinking it would be best to meet at mine which is on the way and then travel together in one car. happy to take my car. This means we will arrive together and only need one parking slot. I take it you have received the info from the walk organisers and they are recommending that we arrive for 8 am which I think is a good idea as it means we will finish the walk earlier. I can't contact you directly, so please will you email me to agree arrangements at [masked]. Thanks and really looking forward to doing the walk together

Yes, I am afraid that will be too late. I have discovered check in starts at 8 am and they may let people start walking before 8.30 am. Given the length of the walk I think the sooner the better. It would be wonderful if your friend could come too. Also what about the bus. The Red Arrow doesn't take long and the 9s go through Alfreton as well. I would like to leave here at 7.15 am to be there for 8 am. However if needs be we could leave here later so long as we are at Thornbridge Hall in time to check in and start walking at 8.30 absolute latest.

Glad you are able to make it, Henry it should be a good day. If you can get to Alfreton we can share a car for the rest of the journey. It's also possible that there may be others who decide to come from the Derby area nearer the time. Look forward to seeing you on the 13th. Remember to register for the walk.

I can get to Alfreton train station at 8:06. I'm guessing that's too late. I'm going to see if I can get one of my friends from Leicester to come along. Otherwise let's hope someone else from Derby will come.

This sounds right up my street, although I will require a lift from/to Derby.

We would have loved to have you both there but hope you have a great time at the anniversary and Switzerland respectively.

Though I support your efforts, probably a bit much after a week in Switzerland! Good luck!

Why do I keep getting invited to 100's of things on 13 April? Got to celebrate my Ma and Pa's 50th wedding anniversary!
