The Day Of The Doctor - Dr Who 50th Anniversary Episode

The Day Of The Doctor - Dr Who 50th Anniversary Episode

Doctor Who's 50th anniversary special is confirmed to be broadcasting  simultaneously around the world and in UK cinemas...

"On top of the worldwide TV broadcast, hundreds of cinemas in the UK and across  the world also plan to screen the hotly anticipated special episode  simultaneously in full 3D, giving fans the opportunity to make an event of the  occasion and be part of a truly global celebration for the iconic British drama  series.  Details about tickets for the anniversary screening will be  announced in due course."

We have the opportunity to take part in a worldwide event and join millions of people in more than 75 countries watching the same thing at the same time!

UPDATE [masked]:

I have checked the official Doctor Who website again today and it still shows Cineworld in Burton-on-Trent as the nearest cinema to Derby currently signed up to screen this. As the tickets for this went on sale last Friday, I have decided to confirm this as the venue for this event, rather than risk them selling out, whilst we wait to see if a cinema in Derby signs up to show it. Afterall Burton is only 10 minutes along the A38 from Derby :-)

I would strongly recommend that you book your tickets online in advance.  If you sign up to "My Cineworld" as the same time, you will save £1.05 on the cost of your ticket.

Here's the link to book online - click on the 19:30 in the blue box!

Telephone bookings  [masked] (Calls cost 10p per minute plus network charges)

Meet in Foyer at 7.00pm to take seats no later than 7.15pm. Programme starts at 7.30pm.

Afterwards, we'll find somewhere to go for a drink as we'll no doubt need to discuss the space-time continuum :-D

How to get there:

By car

From any of the routes into Burton upon Trent follow signs for the Coors Museum of Brewing. This is situated on the corner of Horninglow Road and Guild Street. The cinema is located in Middleway Park halfway down Guild Street and is clearly marked by signs.

Middleway Park has its own free car park after 7pm (and 4 hours free for cinema customers).

By train

Turn right out of the Burton upon Trent station onto Station Street. Continue until the crossroads and turn left onto Guild Street. Middleway Park is located on the right hand side half way down.

By bus

Thanks so much for organising Steve, I never would have thought of seeing it at the cinema, it was great seeing it in a packed theatre of fans! Drinks and interesting conversation after were a bonus!

There's a little mini episode that may be worth viewing before going to the screening:

According to the official Doctor Who website, the nearest cinema to Derby currently signed up to screen this, is Cineworld in Burton-on-Trent. I have added this as the venue for the time being. Should be a cinema in Derby be added between now and when the tickets go on sale, I will change the venue.
