I thought that it was time we did this walk again! The last time we went, there was snow on the ground ..... but hopefully there won't be this time :-)
Meet in the car park at 1pm (this is a privately owned car park and you will need to pay to park your car).
Grid Ref: SK[masked]
We'll walk along the bank of the River Dove to Milldale, where we'll stop and have a drink and a bite to eat. There is a shop selling drinks and snacks or you can take your own.
We'll then walk back to Dovedale.
It is approx 6.5 miles (round trip).
Dovedale in Derbyshire and the Peak District, is owned by the National Trust and is farmed with many sheep on the rocky slopes and in the woods. Dovedale's stepping stones appear on thousands of post cards and the area attracts a million visitors a year.
Sturdy footwear, appropriate clothing for the weather and something to drink are advisable.
This event will be weather dependent.... and will be rescheduled if wet.
I have arranged a meeting point near to Derby City Centre where can meet up and then travel together and where we can also leave cars. The car park can get quite full on a nice day and it will also save on fuel and car parking costs if we can travel together. I will e-mail out details to those attending the day before. We will meet here at Midday.
If however you would prefer to make your own way there and meet at Dovedale, that's fine.
We will most likely go and find a pub somewhere afterwards for some much needed refreshment :-)
As Dovedale welcomes dogs on leads, I am going to make this one a "dog friendly" walk. However, please note:
Dogs must be well-behaved and on a lead. Some people may not like dogs, so please respect this.
(If anyone has a particular problem with this, please send me a private message)
As with any DS event, all those taking part in a walk are responsible for their own safety at all times.
