Film: The Sapphires

Smooth blend of humour, social commentary and toe tapping, show-stopping '60's soul music. Set in 1968, this is the tale of three Aboriginal sisters who are discovered singing Merle Haggard covers in an Australian pub by an Irish soul brother (Chris O'Dowd) who re-moulds them as the energetic soul sensation The Sapphires. They hit the road for Melbourne where they recruit their cousin and sign on for a stint singing to the troops in Vietnam. Film starts at 6.15pm
