Annotating Knowledge

Speaker: Presented by Dan Whaley, Founder of Hypothes.is

Price: $10 for early birds, $15 for regular

From Vannevar Bush in 1945 to Marc Andreessen in 1993, the web's visionaries have imagined it to be read/write by design. Till now, it's been just a dream. Learn how a new W3 standard called Open Annotation promises to change that, and with it everything about how we explore, connect, share and assess human knowledge.

Dan Whaley is the founder of Hypothes.is, a new non-profit to enable the community moderated annotation of the world's knowledge. Previously he built the first world's first online travel reservation system-- which today, under SABRE, still handles over $9B in travel a year.

    Thanks for organizing, Joe!

It was great to learn about Hypothes.is. Congratulations Dan on an ambitious project. Are we all in agreement that the interwebs are here to stay? :)

    See y'all next month.

I came a bit late, too bad I was reading a lot about linked data lately and I'm actively using HTML5 micro data, so I wanted to get a perspective to see what annotating was about and how similar it is with the mentioned above or will it be a complement to those.
Hopefully there are slides and resources to share.

I got to meet some very smart and interesting people so let's keep in touch.

If you are a great designer looking for an awesome developer or ate open to some cool ideas lets talk.

    Cheers

Hey, I'm coming! :) And really looking forward to meeting you all and sharing a bit about this fascinating subject. PS ... We're looking to bring on a full time designer/developer if the area intrigues you.
