Hey 912er,

Last week was a great brainstorming session. Tonight we will do one more brainstorming session taking in every single persons thoughts, ideas and opinions! Please come share yours! We need YOU!

We had quite a meeting last Thursday. Of course there was some disappointment and complaining going on but in the long run we all agreed:

1. We have never been prouder to be able to vote for candidates that share our convictions.

2. Had our group and others like it not existed most of the candidates we voted for would never have run in the first place.

3. Some of the candidates we voted for actually won!

4. Stop whining and get going!

We also agreed that we did not come together to become a political action group for the Republican Party that education discussion and information for ourselves and the public was our primary goal.

Therefore, while we will continue to set up a short term plan for supporting candidates in the November election (see A below)

We will also focus on setting up committees and a schedule for education and information (see B below).

I am asking those all to see if any of the committees at the bottom are something you can Chair, co-chair, or just be involved in. Please go to the main website and click on committees and see if one fits your talents. We have so many talented people. www.912projectdesmoines.com .

Please attend tonight’s meet-up and let us know your ideas, if you wish to join a committee or just to help brainstorm.

A. November elections. Because the time and circumstances are so unusual we feel we need to support those candidates that meet The 912 Criteria. This means we will not be supporting all of the candidates that won their primaries. Nor will we campaign against them. We will be setting up a door knocking, phone calling, political type schedule in the next two weeks so:

* We will prepare a Hand out containing our mission statement and the candidates who agree with it. If you have a candidate in mind who qualifies for our support please contact me.

* We will be having short preparation classes on Get out the Vote. If you will lead one please contact me.

*We will be going door to door in September and October

B. Education

Our education goals are twofold.

1. Educating ourselves: We would like to set up a schedule for book groups and Constitution study, the voting process, etc. If you would like to be in one, lead one or have a suggestion for a study topic

2. Educating the public: What kind of information can we offer and what groups can we target. If you want to be on the education committee to help set the schedule or have ideas to share please .
