....I realize that this is held at an unusual time. And for that, I apologize. Unfortunately, I'm not free any of the weekends of August.
You may also notice that this is really far away from the center of Houston. Typically, I wouldn't make you all drive this far out (near where I live), BUT this is a special case. Drew's Pastry Place is a new bakery and it is one of the best I've ever been to. If you can make it, you will not regret it. This place is just fabulous. They've got all kinds of cakes, pies, cookies and brownies, along with slightly fancier pastries, and gelato. The ambiance is great and people don't know about it yet, so it won't be crowded. The head pastry chef (Drew) is very nice and friendly, too.
I hope you will join me, especially if you live in the Cypress/Tomball/Spring area. This is your one chance to not have to drive far! Don't get used to it, LOL!
As a side note, if you guys know of any special places in some other outlying areas like Katy or Clearlake, I'd love to host a gathering in those places every once in a while, also. Just so we can all take turns not having to drive too far. :)
BTW, check out this article about Drew's Pastry Place. And here's a report about it on Fox news. (thanks Beverly!)
p.s. If anyone wants to grab dinner beforehand, lemme know!

Thanks to Gretchen for suggesting Drew's Pastry. I was there to meet you in person (the organiser of Houston Dessert Meetup), taste the pastries, enjoy the company and of course course I was there to meet Chef Drew in person. Inspiring to see an ex-student of Culinary Institute Alain & Marie LeNotre doing well and having his own business. I would not get to experience the evening if Bella has not offered me a ride, thanks! See ya next time. Joys
This was so much fun... We need to informally meet around the Spring/Cypress/Tomball area just so this same group of people can get together. :)
