4 COURSE MENU + DURIAN SHAKE ($20/PP)
-Steph - Danpauk (kinda like an Indian Biryani- curry with rice dish) and some paratha (think stuffed potatoes pancakes)
-Jenn: Own-O-Kow-Swear (chicken and coconut milk stew flavored with turmeric, garlic and ginger and served over noodles)
-Jenn's sis: Si Byan (Burmese Pork Curry w/ pickled mango)
-Jeff: Let-Thoke (noodle salad w/ potatoes, fried onion, bean sprouts, shredded green papaya, etc)
-Jeff: Durian shake
FOR THIS MEETUP, I WILL BE MAKING A DURIAN SHAKE INCLUDED WITH YOUR MEAL!!!
Let's celebrate one the obscure, underappreciated Southeast Asian cuisines...Burmese!
Since my parents are from Burma I will be grabbing recipes from my mom and cooking up a storm!
My Burmese 'cuzs' Jenn & Steph will each be making a dish as well.
It's BYOB and I have a nifty Red Bull container to conceal drinks but I suggest you brown bag it to maintain ambiguity. If you bring wine, I suggest a red so it doesn't need refrigeration while outdoors. I am not responsible if you get fined :)
Note that these dishes take up to 8 hours each to prepare and make, with heavily infused soups and sauces.
In the spirit of fairness, $20 will get you 4 home cooked dishes to sample. Not meager dinky portions, but decent sized portions. Soft drinks (Coke), water, and ice will be provided ($1). Cash only.
P.S. Don't ask stupid questions like 'Can I pay $10 if I only want 2 dishes?' The answer is No. Stay home.
