What are a few of your favorite films and why?

Several shorts by Oscar Mischeaux because this black film maker went against the grain by showing African Americans as well rounded characters rather than mere objects of ridicule. "The Bad Seed"; Hitchcock's "Rope", about 1920's teen murderers Leopold and Loeb; Schindler's List and the 1950's version of the Titanic story called "A Night to Remember" for nail biting tension based on dialogue, rather than special effects. Battle of Algiers, about the "terrorists" war against the occupying French-I think this is playing at the Detroit Film theater this weekend.
