Introduction
I'm the Director of Engineering at Backstop Solutions Group; we write and manage SaaS products for hedge funds and people who invest in them.
Why are you interested in DevOps?
Our engineers (whether originally hired as "developers" or "operations") should have total visibility from codebase branch to deployed environment. DevOps feels like the natural continuation of what Agile did to thinking about development processes.
Does your company employ DevOps practices today?
Some, yes. Our engineers are all in the same room, are polyglots and folks write code and rotate through support of our production environment. We have the typical tools (Hudson, Puppet, Splunk, Nagios) and supporting practices.
