Dear Carol,

Can you answer or get me to someone who can answer this question......how do we in the So. Calif. Democratic Party elect our delegates to the State Convention ?

"***Peace Rally-Gore Vidal featured speaker
Saturday, March 15 Noon to about 3 PM.

NOTE from Alicia Sacks:
Welcome in Spring! Shake off your Winter stupor with this energizing PEACE RALLY! Make your voice heard again, bring friends and family to let Washington and your community know that the never-ending Iraq occupation is NOT ACCEPTABLE!

Gore Vidal will be our featured speaker at the March 15 rally. Vidal is an internationally acclaimed author and activist. This is a rare opportunity to hear a legendary speaker who has spent over half a century writing and speaking on history and politics.

Location: Normal Heights community

Schedule:
? street rally - noon to 1 PM, University Ave. at 43rd Street
? march (less than 1 mile) - 1 PM, from street rally location to TerAlta Park
? main rally - TerAlta Park, bounded by Orange Ave. (N), Polk Ave. (S), Central Ave. (E)
and 40th St. (W) - speakers, poetry, and organization tables w/information. Eat lunch, and be energized!

Theme: "COSTS OF THE WAR" ? The U. S. invasion/occupation of Iraq has led to well over 4000 American deaths alone; and roughly 30,000 American injuries. Hundreds of thousands of Iraqis have died and millions have been made homeless. These are conservative counts! YOUR taxpayer spending on Bush's Iraq "adventure" so far has been $493,000,000,000. Again, this is a conservative count. And this grows by about $185,000 EVERY MINUTE! Think you're getting a tax rebate this year because of recession? Think again. YOUR tax obligation of the Iraq invasion/occupation overwhelms any rebate . . . with principal and interest, you, your family, and your children will be paying thousands and thousands for years to come, JUST FOR IRAQ. Your dollars poured down this black hole have surely been a major contributor to the recession, and the drastic fall in the value of the U. S. dollar. INSTEAD OF INVESTING IN OUR FUTURE, THIS WAR HAS "INVESTED" IN WASTE . . wasted lives, dollars, the reputation of the U. S. world-wide. It is truly difficult to overstate this horrible, horrible cost.

So, come out and let your voice be heard!

***FROM BARBARA CUMMINGS *: [SDCPJ] March 15 - Out of Iraq Now! - spread the word

***For the life of me, I don't know why this event could not have been near to a trolley line so that NCCPJ would be able to participate. They were not contacted pre planning, planning or post planning. They are having a separate action which some of you no doubt will be attending. At any rate, having Gore Vidal speaking is fantastic. I am setting up an IMPEACHMENT stand and will have ARREST BUSH bags and all styles of shirts. I will also have many signs that I will be donating so if you don't have one, come by the stand. See you next week. Some of you tomorrow at Murray DR and Grossmont Center Dr at noon to tell people we have had ENOUGH!

Jeff has offered to come early and help me set up the canopy and table next week. Anyone else who can spare a few minutes is welcome to help us out.

We have fallen way behind in our sign painting and could use some help there too. I have lots of cardboard and paint and a nice tracer projector that I have not had time to set up yet. I'll try for the Sat after the march.

Whether you go to City Heights or North County, please do something next SAT. On the 19th, a few of us are going to Susan Davis's office for a sit in. You are welcome to join us in that effort as well.

The day after the 4,000 death is announced we have a vigil planned at Park and President's Way, Balboa Park.
