Colbert's perfect line:
Stephen Colbert, regarding Treasury Sec. Paulson's request for a STAT bailout without oversight:

The arsonists are in charge of putting out the fire!

The pertinent info:

Paulson joined Goldman Sachs in 1974. He was their CEO prior to becoming Treasury Sec. His compensation package, according to reports, was US$37 million in 2005, and US$16.4 million projected for 2006.[9] His net worth has been estimated at over US$700 million.[9]

He was also Staff Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Defense at The Pentagon from 1970 to 1972.[7] He then worked for the administration of U.S. President Richard Nixon, serving as assistant to John Ehrlichman from 1972 to 1973.

First defense contractors, then drug companies (through Medicare changes), now the banking industry. The profiteering and looting of our U.S. treasury continues unabated and out of control, with virtually NO oversight or regulation. Bush says, "If you love America, jump this way" and Congress asks, "How high?".

This should be forwarded to all voters (don't bother with the billionaires though, most of them like it like this!).
