When I have tried to speak about in support Bob Filner not resigning, I have been HIT with the label of being " a Hypocrite "!
The first time this was said to me, it really surprised me and puzzled me. I feel I should be able to state my opinions without being called a hypocrite.
This kind of name calling is a tactic, I do not agree with when discussing the Bob Filner Crisis.
Calling someone a hypocrite, stop the discussion altogether.
Maybe, that, is/was, why it is said.
I want to be able to state my opinions, statements, without having to stop the main topic of discussion, to defend myself from being called a hypocrite.
Hypocrite has been stated by several of my progressive & democratic friends or members, I feel that I must speak up.
Accusing someone of being a hypocrite, should require more thought and evidence, than just speaking about not wanting Bob to resign.
I am not big on name calling, and/or, make such judgments of friends and people I might disagree with... I say ' might' because my mind is not make up.
To me, to ask someone to resign is a big decision.
Those that have come on quickly, have had enough time and evidence for them to come to this decision. I haven't. That is all.
Many who, first asked for his resignation, have had more time, and more evidence, and more information.
I have not had the privilege to see or hear or decide. I respect their decision.
There are a lot of consequences to demanding someone to resign. Not the least of these, is having Todd Gloria being Mayor temporarily, is one of my concerns.
Think about it...
From another Dem Member:
Anyway, that is not the issue here. The issue is the campaign to remove Mayor Filner. If that happens, who should we be working for to replace him, etc? The “Divide and Conquer” tactics of Atwater and Rove should have no place in our gatherings. We need to unite, not reduce ourselves to childish bickering, with the playground name-calling and the like. This weakens our party and our vision. No doubt setting us up to fight among ourselves was a desired side effect of this fiasco. Let’s not fall into that trap, but use our time and energy for positive good.
