★ # 1. INSTANT ACTION for the California DISCLOSE Act! www.caclean.org

Hi, California can strike a blow against Citizens United by passing the California DISCLOSE Act, a bill that would shine a bright light on the shadowy interests who depend on secrecy to influence elections. The California DISCLOSE Act (Senate Bill 52, Leno-Hill), sponsored by the California Clean Money Campaign and endorsed by Progressives United, local MoveOn.org counsels, and over 100 other organizations, would mandate clear and prominent disclosure of who is behind political TV, radio, print, and mass mailer ads -- on the ads themselves. SB 52 will stop special interests from hiding behind fake committee names by requiring ads to show their actual original contributors. Giant corporate interests are trying to kill SB 52. Join the California Clean Money Campaign and Progressives United by signing our petition to urge state legislators to pass the California DISCLOSE Act today. That's why I signed a petition to The California State House and The California State Senate, which says: "California State Senators and Assemblymembers: Vote Yes on the California DISCLOSE Act, SB 52." Will you sign the petition too? Click here to add your name: http://signon.org/sig...

★ # 4. ALLIANCE FOR NUCLEAR RESPONSIBILITY : What exactly was Southern California Edison doing with our money during the first year that San Onofre was broken? "I DON'T KNOW...." and "I'M NOT SURE.... The witness chair is empty now, but it didn't make much difference when Southern California Edison's "expert" was sitting in it... Time and time again at the CPUC today these were his only answers under questioning by the attorney for the Alliance for Nuclear Responsibility.... Throughout 2012, while the San Onofre nuclear plant was out of service, SCE was supposedly reviewing the situation, making plans and figuring out what to do with their failed steam generator replacements. Exactly what were they spending our money on during that time? Well, it seems that they don't know and aren't sure... Is that the kind of business their CEO Ted Craver is paid $11.5 million a year to run? It doesn't sound like a prudent way to spend our rate money... Ratepayers deserve accurate, detailed answers, and the questioning from Alliance attorney John Geesman will continue throughout the week. We promise to get to the bottom of this, but we need your support. Please visit our web site www.a4nr.org and please support us. Donate now! The Alliance is supported entirely by people like you. All of the funds we receive are used for education programs and travel expenses. Funds received for the Legal Fund will be used entirely for that purpose. We have one part-time paid staff person; all other members are unpaid volunteers. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is relicensing nuclear plants twenty years in advance of license expirations. To date thirty license renewals have been approved by the NRC, despite the fact that there is no planned permanent waste disposal for the radioactive waste produced under continued operation. ★ #6. From: Kaytee Riek, SumOfUs.org Subject: OFFICIAL REPORT-BACK: February-May 2013
Wow, what a spring! Together, we've been challenging retailers that are blocking an agreement that would end garment industry death traps in Bangladesh, fighting to stop the unprecedented death of bees worldwide, making sure the world knows what a tar sands spill really looks like, and so much more. With so much going on, we thought we'd pause our campaigning for just a moment to share a bunch of cool things we did together this Spring. Scroll down to read more. Thanks for being part of the Sum Of Us, -- Kaytee Riek, Campaign Manager P.S. You asked to be able to share these updates on Facebook, and good news -- now you can!
