*** SAT SEPT 21 starts at 10:30 AM in San Diego " DRAW A LINE ACTION " ~  STOP KXL KEYSTONE PIPELINE! SAN DIEGANS PLEDGE RESISTANCE to the KEYSTONE PIPELINE "  Saturday, September 21, 10:30 AM Federal Building (south lawn) San Diego CA " DRAW A LINE ACTION " ~  STOP KXL KEYSTONE PIPELINE! Sign up  to lead a Draw the Line action on September 21st to PROTECT OUR COMMUNITIES FROM CLIMATE CHANGE! and send a message to President Obama that there's no turning back -- to keep his climate promises, he needs to reject Keystone XL.  Over the past two years tens of thousands of people have stepped into the streets to stop Keystone XL -- rallying, risking arrest, showing up at Obama events, and taking action to stop the pipeline directly.  Now President Obama has said that he's willing to reject the pipeline if it significantly impacts the climate. Well, it would, and We need to show the President that it's time to draw the line, and stop Keystone XL for GOOD! Where: Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse 880 Front Street San Diego, CA 92101-8897 (south lawn)

From: Rae Breaux - 350.org
Subject: We started something great.
Reply-To: drawtheline@350.org

Friends,
Two years ago today, the fourth group of Tar Sands Action arrestees were lined up in front of the White House taking a stand against the proposed Keystone XL pipeline, part of one of the largest acts of civil disobedience in the American climate movement.
1,253 people strong, we came from coast to coast every day for two weeks to sit-in and tell the President the KXL pipeline was clearly not in our best interest.
In the last two years, the energy from those sit ins has powered a steady drum beat of unprecedented actions: from circling the White House, to Texas landowners blocking construction in Texas, to rallying 40,000 strong in DC this February, to making sure the President hears about the pipeline and tar sands every time he speaks. We made ourselves impossible to ignore, and showed the world that the Keystone XL pipeline and the tar sands are not the way to a healthy and livable planet.
On September 21st, communities will join forces again to Draw the Line on Keystone XL. We will stand up against against the tar sands and climate impacts and take a stand for a clean energy future.
There are some great actions registered already -- a pipeline piñata in Texas, a chalk line of high water in NYC, a “second line” dancing brass band in New Orleans -- and many more beyond that. There’s a guide for getting organized, as well as ideas for action on the sign up pageClick here to plan your own: act.350.org/event/draw_the_line/create/
No one expected that we could pull off two weeks of successful civil disobedience, or surround the White House, or even still be in this fight two years later. Even now, there are still folks rooting for us to fail.
But I don’t think we will, because since the start of this campaign you have shown what ambitious, determined, creative action can do, and we're not going to stop doing just that.
Looking forward to aligning in the streets again,
Rae

Our signature conservation event brings together representatives of Audubon’s 35,000 members and 44 chapters with conservation leaders, scientists, educators and policy makers. Through nature-inspired walking workshops, inspiring speakers and thought-provoking learning sessions, Audubon plans to join together people of all ages and backgrounds in our common interest of protecting Florida's remarkable natural resources.  Assembly 2013 Schedule Outline  Information on walking workshops, keynote speakers, special presentations, and more will be revealed in coming weeks. Be sure to bookmark our website or follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
Friday Learning Sessions This year's Audubon Assembly is focusing on the network of grassroots conservationists who are out in the field making a difference for Florida's environment. After our kick-off lunch on Friday, you will have the opportunity to participate in three different breakout sessions. Each session will run twice, so you will have an opportunity to experience two in their entirety. Our Citizen Science leaders are working hard to put together programs that will engage and inspire you. Each session will feature cutting-edge scientists, biologists, conservationists, and leaders from across Florida. Stay tuned for the latest information as it becomes available.
Boots on the Ground for Advocacy: Time spent in Florida’s special places and volunteer bird stewardship instills participants with a personal experience of the vital need for conservation. And when people speak from a place of personal experience with Florida’s lands, water, and wildlife they are powerful conservation advocates at multiple levels of government policy-making. In this session, learn how to cultivate leadership in your advocacy efforts. Boots on the Ground for Citizen Science: Whether it’s Florida Scrub-Jays, beach-nesting birds, sea turtles, or wading bird rookeries, data collected by trained citizen scientists provides information vital to habitat management. Join us for a discussion of the components of a successful citizen science program, volunteer recruitment and retention, and the ways in which these programs support conservation in Florida.

Boots on the Ground for Habitat Stewardship: When it comes to habitat stewardship, there is no substitute for a team of engaged, passionate and knowledgeable individuals willing to pull on their boots and apply themselves to a conservation challenge. Stewardship takes many forms; from tackling invasive species to applying prescribed fire, or even working to re-establish native species. These essential tasks are performed routinely throughout our state by committed staff and volunteer from a host of different entities all working toward the common cause of conservation.

This session will showcase a handful of these important and effective habitat stewardship strategies. This year's Assembly will be held in Palm Harbor at the beautiful Innisbrook hotel, only minutes from some very exciting options for our not-to-be-missed morning excursions! (more information will be available as we get closer to the event date). The hotel is located about a half hour from downtown Tampa.  Assembly officially begins Friday morning, October 25, and runs until 2 pm on Saturday, October 26.  YOU MUST BOOK YOUR HOTEL ROOM SEPERATELY: Call 1-800-492-6899 (mention you are with Audubon Florida) and book by October 3 to reserve your group rate room! Subject: Petition delivered to Scott Peters

Hi!

Thanks for signing my petition to Congressman Scott Peters asking him to explain his vote against Obamacare. I delivered the petition today at lunch; although I didn't meet with Peters himself, I talked to a staff member who explained that  Peters understood the bill to be strictly about delaying the individual mandate by a year, and that he felt that was fair given that the mandate for large companies was delayed by that amount. He( Scott's Staff member), made clear that Peters has gotten the message that many of his constituents are upset about this vote and I have the impression he will be taking that into consideration for future votes. He also said I may recieve a prepared response on the subject; if so of course I will share it with you.  Thanks again!

I just took action to stop the Koch brothers from influencing public television -- join me?

I just took action with Working Families to say that the Tea Party-funding Koch brothers shouldn't influence public television programming. Public television should stop the self-censorship and air the documentary Citizen Koch!

There’s a guide for getting organized, as well as ideas for action on the sign up page. Click here to plan your own: act.350.org/event/draw_the_line/create/
Looking forward to aligning in the streets again,
Rae
