Message from the President; 64 Confirmed for Picnic

In the electronic age, some groups find themselves with more than one communications channel. That is what's happened to us. In addition to our meetup site, we have a site on the national DFA website ( We also sent out e-vites to others in the political sphere who are not DFA members. Between DFALink and the e-vites 64 people have confirmed that they will be attending our third annual picnic this coming Sunday, June 10. That's why you don't want to miss what is sure to be our best picnic ever.

This year, our picnic is in Loose Park, just a few blocks South of the Plaza on Wornall Road, from 2:00PM until 5:30PM. Our shelter is the large shelter near the duck pond and, also near the Wornall entrances (one at 51st & Wornall and one at 52nd and Wornall) to the park.

Our picnic has good food, great guest speakers (Beth Gottstein-KCMO City Council, Corey Dukes-Claire of Claire McCaskill's staff, Kerry-Rose Brooks Center, Terry Riley-KCMO City Council, and John Sharp-KCMO City Council) games, drawing for prizes, energizing conversation and, oh yes! ... a great time for friendly, Progressive folks.

Admission fee is a new toiletry item to donate to Rose Brooks Center. In addition to bringing a new toiletry item, please bring a side dish or dessert to share. Provided will be brats, hot dogs, turkey wraps, drinks, chips, plates, cups, and flatware.

"Checkered Past" will provide live music, Jason Reese will be our DJ for recorded music, and Donette Colemen Reese will tell a Juneteenth story.

GKCDFA supports Democratic and progressive politics. We believe in participatory democracy and the power of the grassroots. We are here to help recruit and support fiscally responsible, socially progressive candidates for all levels of elected office.
