Subject: [dfa-61] New Meetup: Good bye Captain Hook. Strangely he will be missed

Announcing a new Meetup for Greater Kansas City Democracy for America!

What: Good bye Captain Hook. Strangely he will be missed

When: April 1,[masked]:00 PM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Meetup Description: Bush has become a secret craving, an addiction. We loathe Bush in the way Peter Pan loathed Hook; hes a villain to be sure, but hes half the fun of living in Never-Never Land Garret Keizer Oct 2007 Harpers Mag. General Strike

Would that we could look upon our past president in such a story book fashion, though we cant, there is something to be said about missing him. Parting words to the press by President Nixon, when he resigned You wont have Dick Nixon to kick around anymore and the press had to clamor for a while. They had to shuffle a bit and figure out whats next.

As an organization we are at a similar juncture. For the past 8 years GKCDFAs job was: go with the flow. As the underdog, our path was pretty clear. We had to elect our own, beat the GOP in elections and unseat their leader. There are still some Mo/Kan GOPs to weed out, BUT NOW WE HAVE THE POWER! But like the proverbial dog who finally catches the car What now? How do we use this new power thoughtfully, effectively? How do we put this power to work for the people, our community? Whats the next step?

That next step; thats the goal of our April Fools meeting. We want our best brains (that's you) to brainstorm and help us to figure out how best to use the power. What is the best way to utilize our assets (that's all of us)? Do we become a passive group and wait for the next round of elections? Do we become an educational group? Do we become involved in Community efforts?, local politics?, state issues? Should we link with the Obama groups? How about following DFA Centrals lead? Should we push Dr. Deans health care plan? And then there is that World Peace! Or maybe we just become a fun group? Nah! We need to do some serious thinkin. We need to do some serious talkin. We want you to let us know what is most important to you, and what should be the most important to us. Please think about it, come Wednesday &lets talk!
Also there will be time for last minute nominations and we will have elections of officers preceding the discussion!
Same as always First Wednesday, 7:00 PM Californos, 4124 Pennsylvania, KC, Mo. Mid Level Ballroom.
Please be there!
Take Care
