"THE DAY AFTER" >> Nov. 8 Oakland DFA Meetup @ Rockridge Library

Can't wait to discuss the November 7th election results?

There's no better place than the Oakland DFA Meetup...

Come to the Rockridge Library at 7 pm on Wednesday, NOVEMBER 8th and discuss what happened, why it happened, and what our collective response should be as a community.

You'll hear from your fellow progressive patriots and ***maybe a surprise guest or two!***

EVERYONE is welcome! (not just DFA'ers, of course).

Rockridge Library, 5366 College Ave
7 pm: Meetup!
9 pm: Drink Liberally at the Conga Lounge
So we can prepare and order enough pizza, please RSVP now at:

At this DFA Meetup, we'll discuss the big news from the previous day's election results:

* Did the Democrats take back Congress? The House? The Senate? If the Democrats now control one or both chambers what should they do to blunt the Bush Administration and advance a positive agenda for America?

* CA-11: Did Jerry McNerney's grassroots campaign for change make congressional campaign history by overcoming Richard Pombo's vast right-wing money machine? Hundreds of DFA'ers and other political activists * Governor: Who won and what's the collateral damage to our democracy? Did low turnout drag down other races?

* Lt. Governor: Who is next in line for the Governor's seat? John Garamendi or Tom McClintock?

* Secretary of State: Did Debra Bowen, our Election Integrity champion, defeat Bruce McPherson?

* Oakland City Council, District 2: Who won one of the most heated City Council races in years -- Aimee Allison vs. Pat Kernighan? What are the ramifications for Oakland and Mayor-elect Dellums? * Peralta Community College Board: Did Abel Guillen upset incumbent Alona Clifton?

* Oakland's Measure O
* The Berkeley Mayor's race

* And, last but not least, the all-important X factor: those touch-screen voting machines. What happened and what does it mean for the Election Integrity movement?

Got more? Or suggestions for other agenda items? Please e-mail Eden James at the link provided on

    From now on, let's only have meetings where we can celebrate taking back another part of the country.

    loosely organized but wonderful to meet up with the people who fueled key races throughout the area.

    Thanks for putting this together! Why so short of food and drink? LOTS of time spent on recognition and applause which means less to relative newcomers like me. Maybe shouldn't have billed it as a discussion so much as an awards ceremony with a 30 min of discussion at the end? All in all, I'm glad I was there however!

    The main order of business was recognizing members who worked hard over a long period to achieve yesterday's success. They deserved it. Yea team! I'm proud to be associated with these dedicated volunteers. During the last 20 minutes or so, individuals made some very perceptive observations about next steps.

    Thanks for bringing us all together and letting us hear from the heros.

    Where should I send the photos I took? Should I post them on-line or do you want a CD?

    It was a perfect meeting. We started out praising each other for our good work and then went on to discuss future activities. Everyone who wanted to say something had the opportunity to do so.
