The American Dream only Works when People Do! Jobs Not Cuts Rally & March October 15th

Vincent C.
Group Organizer
Berkeley, CA
On Saturday October 15th local progressive & labor groups are taking to the streets in support of Rebuild the Dream's 10 point contract. The speakers will pose the question to our elected officials: Where are the Jobs?

East Bay DFA's Organizing Team urges you to come to the Jobs Not Cuts rally & march to show your support for real solutions to our real problem – too many people don't have a job.

Groups including MoveOn's East Bay Chapter and WDRC, as well as, all of the area's labor council's will be calling for an immediate solution to the jobs crisis in our country and letting Congress know that we're ready to work.

Saturday, Oct. 15.

Rally at 1:00 p.m. at Laney College where you'll be asked to sign the list of urgently needed action to be delivered to our elected officials.

At 2:30 pm march to the Federal Building where demonstrators will "nail" your signed petitions to the federal government's door.

3:30 pm the rally continues at Frank Ogawa Plaza where speakers will present the "Jobs Not Cuts" agenda.

From thousands of grassroots ideas, MoveOn/Rebuild the Dream developed a 10-point agenda for government actions to turn the country around. It calls for:

  • I. Invest in America's Infrastructure
  • II. Create 21st Century Energy Jobs
  • III. Invest in Public Education
  • IV. Offer Medicare for All
  • V. Make Work Pay
  • VI. Secure Social Security
  • VII. Return to Fairer Tax Rates
  • VIII. End the Wars and Invest at Home
  • IX. Tax Wall Street Speculation
  • X. Strengthen Democracy

Americans need jobs, not cuts

Many of our best workers are sitting idle while the work of rebuilding America goes undone. Together, we must rebuild our country, reinvest in our people and jump-start the industries of the future. Millions of jobless Americans would love the opportunity to become working, tax-paying members of their communities again. We have a jobs crisis, not a deficit crisis.

Your EB DFA Organizing Team: Frances, Janet S, Janet F, Mark, Norman, Tara, Vincent and Yvonne.
