WEDNESDAY: Your "Day After" Meetup: Obama vs. Clinton and more...

Eden J.

I'm going to get right to the point.

#1: No matter who you vote for, please VOTE on Super Tuesday (and remember to tell your friends registered as "Decline-to-State" that they can vote for President as well!)

#2: On the day after Super Tuesday, there's only one place you'll want to be if you want to talk about what the presidential primary results will mean to our progressive movement to change America and the world:

Oakland "Democracy for America" Meetup
Wednesday, February 6

Rockridge Library, 5366 College Avenue, OAKLAND
6:30 pm: Daily Show and Dinner
7:00 pm: The "Day After" Meetup
9:00 ish: Drinking progressively at Ben 'n Nicks!

There will be a lot more at this Meetup than just talk (stay tuned for more details). Like our "Day After" Meetups in 2004 and 2006, it will be a night that brings together progressives from across the East Bay to celebrate (or perhaps just ruminate) what happened and what should happen next.

If you're looking for an opportunity to connect and communicate with your friends in the DFA community (and folks from other communities, like the WDRC and PDA), you don't want to miss this meetup.

I will send more details on other agenda items on Monday. But for now... so we can order enough pizza and make enough copies... please RSVP here:

Meanwhile, it was only two months ago that we gathered at the Rockridge Library, writing hand-written letters to Iowans, asking them to "Unite for a Progressive President" -- DFA's national meetup action. It was a wonderful event, with over 80 meetuppers discussing their presidential preferences openly and respectfully. Many people told me after the event that it helped them think more deeply about who they would support and why.

The national DFA organization (based in Burlington, VT; Howard Dean's hometown) was so thrilled with the event video produced by Edwin Rutsch, an Oakland DFA Meetup Team member, they sent it out to 650,000 people across America.

You can watch the video of that night's Oakland DFA Meetup below. This fun film is a little over 3 minutes and captures the spirit of our community really well:

If you like that, you'll love Wednesday night's meetup. So we can order enough pizza and make enough copies...

See you on Wednesday night!

United We Meetup,
Eden, Janet, Aaron, Vince, Edwin, Joan, Janet, Norman, Yvonne, Tara, Frances and Kathy
Your Oakland DFA Meetup Planning Team

P.S. If you're looking to get the best hands-on training in the country on how to run an electoral campaign, please join our friends from Burlington, Democracy for America, in Berkeley on March 1-2 (yes, the national organization is coming to our neighborhood!).

It's even more can't-miss than this Wednesday's meetup:
