Concert Announcement: Sun., May 17th, Old Music from the New World at the Mesquite Arts Center, 6:30 p.m.

This is the last concert of the season for The Texas Voices, a professional chamber choir which I sing in.  We usually perform more “accessible” music in the last concert, so if you have a friend or S.O. who is not a classical music fan, they’ll still enjoy hearing songs like “Shenandoah” and “Drunken Sailor.”  We’re also debuting “Scraping Up Sand from the Bottom of the Sea,” a comical mix of “Liza Jane” folk tunes.

I hope as many of you as possible can make it!

FINAL CONCERT OF THE SEASON! Join The Texas Voices as they present an evening of Early American folk songs, hymns, and spirituals--and the Old World music traditions that inspired them.

This concert includes breathtaking 20th century arrangements of popular folk songs such as Shenandoah and Lily of the Valley. And what folk-song celebration would be complete without the rousing, whimsical The Drunken Sailor?
