FREE Aquaponic Build/Project Day

** Special Notification -- The February meeting will be held onsite at a large system that Green Phoenix Farms has built in partnership with Feed By Grace. This greenhouse is a 20'x96' hoop house and contains Media Beds, DWC (Raft) Beds and Aquaponic Wicking Beds. Come on out to see what is going on!

** If you would like to host a Chapter meeting, please contact David Cohen to schedule. The only requirement is that you be a member of the Aquaponic Association.

Gathering: 9am to 1pm
Cost: FREE

Come to our FREE Aquaponic Community Gathering. If you have questions or a project that you would like to work on regarding Aquaponics -- then this is the event for you. We are going to open up our workshop and provide a place where anyone who is interested can come work and build projects using Aquaponics.

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO COST TO ATTEND!!!! Please feel free to come on down, pull up an chair and watch, discuss, and help out with any of the projects that are being built. Most people learn best by doing, so that is what we hope to provide -- a place to DO things!

If you would like to use our tools, there will be a slight fee to cover wear/tear and electricity, and of course we will have our kits and equipments for sale if you need anything.

BUT, the focus is on YOU and YOUR PROJECT -- please come on down and bring your ideas. Let's get DFW growing with Aquaponics!

Having ever seen small system up close this was amazing. Especially the care taken to keep it uncluttered with plumbing being buried for some parts

I feel that it was a real treat for all. The opportunity to see a "commercial size" system, all laid out and ready to start is a first for the DFW area. We have seen the parts separately but not all together. I hope to have all those that attended come back often as the system starts up and development progresses. This system and the data collected will help in moving Aquaponics into the local limelight. Thank you all for attending and supporting the Aquaponics Association, DFW Chapter. Yes, please let us know as development progresses. I, for one, would very much like to see and talk about it in all it's stages. I am especially curious to find out if it produces as well as you hope, and to see if your wicking beds perform.

It wasn't what i expected as I was hoping to help people with some building tasks. I brought all my tools, nail guns, miter saws, generators, compressors etc. However, it was a pleasant surprise and I left with more knowledge than I came with. Thanks and excited for the next one. Also, excited to see the system actually cycled. So far all I have seen is franks over in Decatur!

Need suggestions on best book/ website/ advice giving detailed procedure on starting a aquaponics system balancing needs of fish and needs of plants.

Joe, the best two books (In our opinion) are Sylvia Bernstein's "Aquaponic Gardening" and Meg Stout's "The Idiot's Guide to Aquaponics." Of course, we (Green Phoenix Farms) are here to assist you with all levels of system design, installation and operation if you would like a more hands-on approach.
