FREE Aquaponic Build/Project Day

Gathering: 9am to 1pm
Cost: FREE

Feed by Grace of Fort Worth to get their own land for Aquaponics Greenhouse system.

We have just been informed by Neale Mansfield, the Executive Director of Feed by Grace, that the leased properties our greenhouse and system occupy have been sold.  The seller has made arrangements to help Feed by Grace purchase a one-acre tract of land only a 10 minute walk away.

What this means for us is that we need to move our systems, that which we can save, off the land and store until Feed by Grace can re-install greenhouse. We have begun the process but need your help.

The Dallas Chapter of the Aquaponics Association would like to ask that rather than having a gathering in Garland Saturday the 5th of April, you all come help us move. The storage lot is only 100 feet away. The more hands the better. Bring drills to remove screws and pry bars to lift rafts.

As we are beginning the planting season, we at Green Phoenix Farms have a special offer for you. FREE seedlings.  As we prepared for the system there in Ft. Worth to finish its cycle, we started many flats for planting. It will be a while before we can startup this system again, so we wish to give these away to those of you in our Aquaponics family.  We have LOTS seedlings available. All starts are in trays and we can cut them apart for you.

Thank you for your help in the past and we look forward to seeing you April 5th. Please let us know how many are coming. Let’s meet around 9:00 and hopefully be done around 1:00 or 2:00.

Feed by Grace is located at 1300 E. Presido Lane in Ft. Worth. Exit 30 at Riverside DR. south and turn right on Lancaster (first light) and proceed up hill. After light turn left on Cypress to Presidio. You will see greenhouse on right.

Thank you,

David Cohen

President Dallas Chapter of the Aquaponics Association

Vice-President of Green Phoenix Farms

What a fantastic turnout. Approximately 30 people did in 4.5 hours what it took Adam and I and 2 workers 6 weeks to erect. Thank you all so very much and on be half of Feed by Grace, " have a blessed day and see you when we are ready to set back up". David

This was a wonderful day with a great crew of people. I cannot express enough thanks for the help that everyone was willing to give. We were able to not just breakdown and salvage the pieces of the Aquaponic system, but with the help of everyone we also got the entire greenhouse dismantled and ready for transport to the new location. THANK YOU ALL!!!!

This wil be my first meeting, I'm very excited! I have extra prybars (all sizes), drills and tools I can bring to help! Should I bring a couple cases of water (free of course)?

How much assistance will newbies be in the deconstruction process? I know how to use a crow bar, hammer and screw gun/drill, so that part would not be a problem. Just don't want to be in the way. How much could a newbie learn at this meeting?

you will probably learn even more, working in reverse....so often you start something wondering what it will really look like in the end...here you see the big picture, and then dig down into the detail.

      March 31, 2014

  • Elba S.

I'll bring 2 electric drills, crowbar and Texas Toothpick (6' pry bar).

    March 30, 2014

  • dana w.

i can bring my big red crowbar (to share) and a couple small prybars, and some fresh LED batteries for my drill....phillips bits, or straight edge?

i would rather be building than unbuilding, but we do what we must.

Jim, the event at Jay's was the March meeting and was held on March 1st. The April meeting will be at Green Phoenix Farms in Garland on April 5th. Hope to see you then. David

    • Jim M.

Thanks for the update David. It appeared right under the date of the meeting to be at Jay's house. I don't know if others think it will be at Jay's house or If they know it will be at Green Phoenix Farms. Either way, thanks for the clarification. See you on the 5th.

I just planted my first "square foot garden" and looking to build my first aquaponics system. I have a 250 gallon tote, some plumbing, and need a refresher on how to finish building it. Looking forward to the meetup.
