This is probably the most exciting meeting I am planning for this year! Suzanne with Special E will be our guest speaker for this month. She will teach us how to "Go Green" with our events. Here is a blurb about the Special E Company: Special E is a new and unique "green" service that rescues leftovers from meetings, conferences, trade shows, banquets, parties, weddings, and special events, then recycles them in ways that help our planet and people in need. For example, we'll rescue leftover food and deliver it to food banks, soup kitchens, and emergency shelters to feed people that are hungry and homeless. We'll rescue buffet leftovers that are normally thrown out and convert them into organic-rich compost. This benefits the environment and helps reverse the effects of global warming by conserving landfill space and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. In addition to food, beverages will also leave behind a trail that can be put to good use. We'll rescue empty cans of beer and soda from a cocktail reception, then use the recycling proceeds to purchase cans of food for abused and abandoned pets. We'll even rescue leftover remnants of beverage containers such as bottle caps and wine bottle corks and re-purpose them into jewelry and decorative products. Proceeds from the sale of these goods will be used to buy beverages for children that are thirsty or don't have access to a safe supply of drinking water! Other items that are often left behind following an event include floral arrangements and centerpieces. We'll rescue these leftovers and deliver them to nursing homes and hospitals to bring cheer to the elderly and children that are sick. We'll also rescue leftover giveaways, promotional products, and event supplies and deliver them to families who have lost all their belongings in a natural disaster. It doesn't matter what type of program you're planning. Whether it's a meeting, conference, trade show, company picnic, fundraiser, gala, holiday party, or wedding -- we'll rescue leftovers from any type of event, then re-distribute, re-purpose, and recycle them to benefit our planet and people in need. To view a list of items we can rescue that are typically leftover from an event. We will also be hearing from Erin with Ferrari's Italian Restaurant and her events also.
