What camera(s) and equipment (i.e. lenses) do you use?

A very simple Nikon Coolpix point & shoot is my current camera. Obviously, I need a professional DSLR to advance my hobby into a career.

What photo manipulation program(s) do you use? (i.e. Adobe Lightroom; Photoshop CS5 for PC or Mac)

I really, really want to learn Photoshop for the sake of quenching my own knowledge, acquiring a photo related job & to succeed in my career!!!! Right now I use the very simplest of editing software that is included on my laptop. I was also introduced to befunky.com for simple effect add-ons. And I was referred to & have downloaded Picasa, but have not worked with it yet.

Is photography a hobby or profession?

It wasn't very long after moving to DFW that I had a cosmic revelation & asked myself 'If I could wave a magic wand, wake up tomorrow & go to my dream job, what would my life look like?' My answer...to make people smile by inspiring, solving & transforming the everyday using my passion for creativity!! "I don't want to change the world. I just want to capture it!"

What types of photography do you enjoy (i.e. nature; artistic; portraits; landscapes; macro; etc...)

Photo journalistic style that tells a story & conveys emotion. I also love macro work. I love night scapes & also using natural lighting as much as possible.

Do you have a favorite place/event that you like taking pictures of? If yes, feel free to explain.

Favorite subjects to shoot are my 3 yr old niece & children. I attend a lot of baseball games, so I certainly practice that subject matter. Recently I attended a family wedding & fell in love (no pun intended) with wedding photography!!! I also take snapshots of food I've made (because I'm proud of the dish). I have also shot my own Kitchen & Bath remodel projects for my work resume/portfollio. I am certainly open to learning architectural photography as well.

Introduction

Having recently moved from the Chicagoland area, I figured joining the DFW photo club would be a great way to meet new people, explore my new surroundings, improve my skills & network for creative employment!!
