Texicon gaming convention Dallas/Ft. Worth June 27-29

Texicon 2014 begins June 27th through to the 29th at the Grapevine Convention Center. It was decided this year to host the convention at a venue that is a mid point between Dallas and Ft. Worth.
Grapevine Convention Center
1209 S Main St.
Grapevine, Texas 76051
Texicon supports all three sections of gaming: Miniatures, Role-Playing, and Board gaming. Each year Texicon will focus on
a specific section. Moreover, we believe that having a place
where multiple games occur will allow players to try games that they might not normally play, while allowing our players to
also play those games they love. Our Game Masters and Referees are excited at the prospect of teaching people to play
new games.

Texicon also hosts seminars that focus on every aspect of gaming. In these seminars, experts will speak about various
aspects of games and gaming. Some speakers will be seasoned gamers, others will be industry specialists.
As usual we put out the call for game masters to help us run games and put on events for the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Contact information for the gaming magnates is available on the homepage of the convention website or I can be contacted here and I’ll be sure to put them in touch with any prospective game masters. Want to help out but don’t want to run a game? I can personally use a few people to help with lifting and assembling wargame tables as well as general set up around the convention. I can be emailed directly at [masked] or contacted here.

Is there any way I can volunteer to help set up, clean up or run a game?

If you are in Pathfinder Society organized play, I still have slots open for GMs. It's best if you can GM 3 games (makes things easier).

If I understand the info on the con website correctly, one could only pre-register, and now it's cash at the door only.
If this is true, then how do you sign up to play at an event (one that doesn't indicate "Closed"?

I am just a local coordinator for Pathfinder Society. You would have to contact the Texicon roleplay magnate... I have made suggestions for the last 2 yrs to help improve the process but things are still the same. You sign up and email the magnate what games you want to be in. He'll sign you up. Last year at the Con there will be a piece of paper with game titles and names on it on a sign up board. Your name will be printed on it and ______ for empty seats. Names are penned in.

overall it's kinda informal... which is not a bad thing (the Con is not that big yet).

This year Texicon will be awarding a Tomas Jefferson wooden lap desk to the best something RPG related. We are not sure if it will be for the best GM or best player. And we are still working out the details. Anyway, here is a link to what it looks like. We are going to modify it so that it has more of an RPG feel to it.

What are Game Sign-up Sheets? Game Sign-up Sheets are sheets that contain the names of any pre-registrant and empty slots for the rest of the available seats. The Game Sign-up Sheets also have slots for alternates should anyone not show up.

Game Sign-up Sheets are posted in the Vendor room and made available to all who wish to sign-up for a game. Each Magnate is responsible for putting the sheets out.

Should you or anyone have any further questions, please feel free to contact us directly at [masked].

Thank you for your question so that I could clear up any confusion. Keeping in Character since 1342,

Hi all, we at Texicon wanted to chime in on this conversation. Preregistration occurs until it is closed. I need to check the date, but usually it is one month prior to the convention. After that date, it is cash at the door. ALL attendees who pre-register should send a list of the games for which they want to sign-up to [masked]. Kevin will then put your name(s) on the Game Sign-up Sheets. This will ensure that you are registered for the events that you want to play. However, Kevin also checks to make sure that you are not signing up for games at the same time. If this happens, you will receive an email asking you which game you prefer to sign-up for.

Currently, the pre-registration instructions are not on the website as pre-registration is closed until the convention gets closer. Kevin will also attempt to inform anyone if a game for which he signed up is cancelled.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
