It doesn't take a crystal ball to see that the smartphone revolution will dominate our attention in the coming years. (The App store has had over 1 billion downloads in 9 months, and Google recently bought mobile ad company AdMob for $750 million). How does "mobile" impact bloggers, web developers, entrepreneurs, and WordPress rockstars?
We are delighted to have serial entrepreneur, Jeff Haynie, flying out from California to address this topic. Jeff is currently the co-founder and CEO of Appcelerator. Appcelerator provides an open source platform for building and managing rich Web, Desktop and Mobile applications (including iPad).
Learn how Appcelerator's Titanium brings the power and efficiency of Web technologies and Cloud computing to Mobile and Desktop application development.
HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Python, PHP and Ruby are the tools of choice for rapid development of professional-grade Web applications. Now they can be your tools of choice for developing mobile and desktop applications using products and services from Appcelerator.
Thanks, John, for the downloading suggestion. I just downloaded my copy of Appcelerator too. I look forward to playing with it for a little bit before Jeff speaks. I always learn so much more when I've gotten my hands dirty before the speaker's presentation.
A good read for before this meetup might be this article on iPhone App usability by Jakob Neilson, the Usability guru: http://www.useit.com/alertbox/mobile-apps-initial-use.htm...![]()
I thought it had some great interface tips for those wanting to design any mobile app.

Just realized we have a conflict this time, as we're moving to a new loft in our building that day. It sucks, because I think I'd really have enjoyed the topic.
Take a look at TexasDesign on iTunes (app based on WordPress blog/site TexasDesign.com) >Link: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/texasdesign/id353795696![]()

Titanium lets web developers build real iPhone and Android apps (not simply RSS readers) with no licensing fees or distribution limitations.
If you've taught yourself HTML and CSS, and can learn some Javascript, then you can learn to build apps for iPhone and iPad.

You may not know this, but our very own Don Thorp is the lead Android developer on the Titanium project. Also, check out Marshall Culpepper's post on the history of Titanium: http://j.mp/amWAY5![]()

This is exciting. I downloaded the Appcelerator software and look forward to using it. The .mobi movement has been sweeping Australia and Europe for two years and I am convinced American businesses will soon acknowledge this industry and the important role it plays in the future. Tony, you are always tops and I feel grateful to be able to attend your meetings!
