One thing that would be a great topic is how to minimize the impact of rouge DOS and Brute Force attacks against your WordPress login.

Nathan Binford put together a good presentation on the common pitfalls and how to fix them. There was lots of user interation, and in the second half of meeting there was 1-on-1 help from the various developers in the group.

Just a heads up. There is another group meeting in the room until 1pm, so we may get a late start by a few minutes. Tony sez, "Go with the flow, grab a drink and a slice and it will all work out."

Hey Tony do I pay the 10 dollars in person on the meetup day?

    June 5, 2013

    • Tony C.

Yes, Arthur. We have people handling money at the door. Thanks for asking.

Hey Tony, I probably have some relevant experience to share. What level of 'common problems' are you addressing? Are you looking for tips on stuff like the "White Screen Of Death" memory limit issue? Is that too basic? How about migrating Wordpress to new servers or new folders on the same server?

Or maybe more advanced topics like:

How to fix problems with formatting in posts.

    or

How to evaluate the load-time of a Wordpress site.

I'd be happy to attend and contribute on whatever level you think is best, if you need presenters.

Anything like those examples will be valuable. I'm looking for issues-oriented concerns that surprise people and stop them in their tracks. We will set aside time for you Nathan.

Things I would love to have addressed in this meetup: Erradicating spam, Mobile/Tablet UX and plug capabilities, Updates on plugs and WP versions. How many years can a theme last? (in terms of compatibility and functionality with newer versions). And more... : ) )

All great topics A.J.! We may choose to continue on this "problems topic" in August! :)

(maybe a topic on its own)

I'm ptetty happy with WP, and don't consider my self expert, but I have found ways around things in WP I've encountered. If that's of any value I'm happy to share them Tony.

I'm looking for WordPress experts who want to share a quick 10-15min talk about solving a common WordPress problem.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
