The Dallas/Ft. Worth Area WordPress May Meeting

  • May 24, 2008 · 4:00 PM

William and I worked together when I organized WordCamp Dallas in March of 2008, and we met so many WordPress bloggers and had such a good time, we thought it'd be a shame to lose contact with one another for a whole year. If you use WordPress for blogging, or if you're just interested in learning to blog, this'll be a great opportunity to network with others having similar interests in your area. If nothing else, join up and enjoy the conversations online.

Nobody talked about Wordpress or blogging. It was more or less people sectioning off into small groups and talking amongst themselves. I was mislead from the pictures from the first meeting that everyone would join the tables together and talk as one group to discuss Wordpress and blogging. That was not the case with this particular meeting.

Not conducive to a good meetup when you're sitting at a table with no where to mingle with others.

It was great. It wasn't exactly what I expected, but that's a good thing. I enjoyed meeting and chatting with new people.

There were lots of WordPress, and non-WordPress conversations going around. I met lots of people that I can't wait to see again next month. And the food was good.

It was just okay. I'm not sure what all I was expecting, but I guess I thought it would be more of a mini WordCamp similar in some respects to Frisco's WordCamp. No one seemed to be in charge, or anyone that appeared to "lead" the group that showed up, and no real group communication took place other than small private conversations with people at our own tables. I thought perhaps there would actually be someone directing the meetup, asking blogging related questions of the group, or answering questions people may have had. I just thought it would be more than it turned out to be.

I'm still a bit new to Wordpress, but it's nice to have a groups to meet others with same or similar interest.

Just FYI... this is Memorial Weekend. :)

Does anyone have anything they want to talk about during this meeting? Themes, Plugins, Install, etc?
