What is the topic to shoot for July?
0 · June 14, 2014
Actually I just made that up. We did not discuss a new topic. We don't always go to Gene's first. In the summer we often will meet at a shotting location. Let's see what the group comes up with.
I guess shotting is what we have done when we reflect back on what we have done at a shooting location.
do who ???
I'm sure we will have lots of the music fest we was at last week.
I ask because this past meeting was "spring. " I assumed every month had a theme. If not, that's fine.
No we do not have a theme every month. That might not be a bad idea but it would lock us into Gene's each second Thursday. Any comments from the group?
It's ok but I like that you mention sometimes the group doesn't meet at Genes first when it's nicer weather.
Ok. Works for me!
Ted since we didn't pick a subject maybe we could discuss a place to meet for July instead of meeting at Genes.

Sounds great. Where? I always liked the 100 center but we have been there often enough it might be old for some.
0 · June 16, 2014
I haven't been there to shoot - sounds like a good place. Anybody else?
Nor have I. Could be interesting.
I'm in. Khama island is behind the 100 center and if that isn't enough Bueter park is next door.
I'm new to the group and I missed the meeting on the 12th. Kamm Island and Beutter Park are great locations! would it be the same time you normally meet at Gene's? I would bring my husband, is that OK?

Carol yes it will be the same time. If this is the location we choose will all meet at the 100 Center
Yes husbands are ok but I may be biased. Sounds like the 100 center with a back up plan for Tammy's park and island, neither of which I have seen. I am not much on the nature stuff but whenever we go out, people are there.
Good pictures. Fun group. Nice shoot. Life is good.

I enjoyed the evening. Did you get your hamburger ?
0 · June 13, 2014
Well of course.
I saw the place but decided to head home and cooked
I missed June, but got some good shots in South Dakota- mostly of bison. Can that be the topic of shots for July (just kidding)? I'll post some in the Miscellaneous folder.

Theresa love the bison pics. woke this morning thinking of the one I commented on. If we had a topic in July you would win the BMW. Btw Ted brought bmw's this time;)
I may not be able to join the group tonight. In case you discuss the Silverhawks game...I'm in!

Me too unless I throw me out.
Hang in Ted. "This too shall pass." :)
Was a good meeting. We are off to shoot.
1 · June 12, 2014
I spoke with an official at the South Bend Silverhawks (Baseball team, for those in Rio Linda) today to see if we could shoot one of their games. He said we could, but we have to nail down specifics ... How many people would want to shoot, what game (he said a Friday night game which is cool because they have fireworks after the game.) I'll talk about it more at the June meeting.
6 · May 16, 2014
I would love to shoot a game!
0 · May 27, 2014
Gene's Camera Store is scheduling a photo outing to a Silverhawks game on July 30th (it has not been advertised or posted yet). Part of the picnic garden is reserved and some great equipment will be available for use along with some instruction. It's also a fireworks night :)

count me in
Any chance we can get inside the fence? Or can we shoot over it from that area? I've never been to a game. What's the cost? Sorry for many questions.
We will have access to the field but not until after the game which might be nice for the fireworks. The picnic garden is at the end of the third base line and is right next to the bull pen - great vantage point. There will be an all you can eat buffet also. The price is not set in stone yet - will have to get back to you on that.

Thanks Karen! Sounds like this will be a very fun event!

Hi group. I am sorry to say that I have banned two new members. If you have issues with this, please have it with me and not bring further disruption to the group. I am sure there are many opinions to be shared. Let's not do so in the group. If you click on me in members I believe it gives you the option to email me direct. This is sad because we will not have the opportunity to meet them and gain from their experience. Thursday we show and critique the "Spring" picture. Hopefully someone will bring an idea for a shoot and a map. If it is the groups favorite, we'll go there. I will facilitate the meeting, then go be a photographer.

I will have to leave at 6:30. Will this cause any problems?
Ted, or anybody interested in making a tripych photo, here is a link to Gavin Hoey's tutorial...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVhIASG5gp0

Thank you Kim! I may have to learn photoshop after all!
0 · June 8, 2014
Photoshop and Lightroom are good programs to know in this techno age.
So, reading my last few posts upside down is going to be confusing. Sorry. A member emailed me and asked me to resolve this unruly issue. So I wasted a lot of time typing and a lot more of members time reading. For basically no gain or photographic improvement at all. So no, I don't think we need to discuss this issue at the meeting. Let's discuss photos, and then go shoot. I was not planning on being at this meeting (and therefore have no pictures to get critiqued!) Now it looks like I might come just for the joy of losing my temper. If I am not there, please have fun, enjoy everyones pictures and then find someplace to go shoot! If I am there, how about we don't expect me to find a shoot? Maybe someone will bring their kids to shoot(I have really enjoyed some of the family stuff we have done). It is also a good time to need some pictures for one reason or another. You have a bunch of creative, gifted people around you hungry to make images. Have a good time Thursday.

Thank you Ted for letting us know what is ok , since I'm fairly new this question has never been asked before. I came to enjoy taking photos and still plan on it
You are welcome. There really are few rules. But having fun should be one of them. Anything else we can leave home. Sorry for the delay in getting involved. I was not seeing the thread replys posted.
Rules ehhh, lol. As a side note for the rest. Words have no meaning unless the recipient gives them meaning. What I've always found interesting is how society believes others can make them feel. That is a social myth. It's your thinking that creates feelings. Funny how many of the conflicts are born from a myth. hmmm :)
The question came up about meeting places. We generally (especially in the winter!) meet at Gene's. Sometimes (like this coming Thursday) we bring pictures on a flash drive and we review, critique and generally make positive comments about other peoples shots. But we don't always. This week is "Spring". Then we try to go out and shoot. Because this locks us into the South Bend area, sometimes we meet somewhere else. The message board may be the only clue to where that is. As a side note, when I am there and if I can, I hustle us out of Gene's (he can't lock up until we are gone) as fast as I can. It is not unusual for someone to be five minutes late and miss the shoot. I am very conscious that in a group, wasted time is the multiplication of the number of people involved times the number of minutes wasted. I respect those who come and try not to waste their time. Our members are usually pretty good at that too. Hopefully that is what you are looking for in a group.
So new members, wouldn't it be wise to come to a group first before you raise issues? Please don't use this forum to discuss any thing other than photography. We go out and shoot. We'd love to have you shoot with us. It really is that simple. If that stresses you, this group may not be for you. I personally love people. And I enjoy being with others who love people. But anyone that can only say "no" or explain where the other person is wrong, is going to waste time. That to me is where we need to draw the line. So if this offends you, don't reply. Just get out. If you want to be with people that love to shoot pictures, we'd love to have you join us.
Wow, for some reaon, since I made Natalie co-organizer, I am not getting notices when you guys post. From all the bickering, I thought this was a blog or something. For tonight, for those of you who asked, I am in charge. So here's some guidance. Bring kids, bring dogs, bring spouses. IF you bring yourself, come prepared to enjoy yourself and make it a priority to treat others with respect. If that feels off, get out of the group now. We meet at Gene's because it is a wonderful place for camera people. No, Jack is not responsible for our behavior. Judging from this thread, I'll bet he is glad. But know this, if anyone is even slightly disrespectful to his property, his person, of his sponsorship, I will take it personally. So please don't. I have been with this group a very long time and I would hate to throw myself out. And believe me, my behavoir under those circumstances would warrant my expulsion.
I haven't been in a while, but would like to attend in June
