Join award-winning photographer Susan Richman of Baobab Photo for an unforgettable class photographing Thaipusam, a fascinating, colourful and vibrant festival where Tamil Hindus show their faith by piercing their bodies with all manner of metal objects to support the heavy burdens they will carry on a 4.5km walk from Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple in Little India to Sri Thendayuthapani Temple on Tank Road.
The festival is an absolute feast for the senses and during this shootout you will learn different techniques for capturing the devotees, the action, the onlookers and the incredible atmosphere.
You’ll have the opportunity to get very close to the devotees during the preparations for the long walk and you’ll be using both wide angle and telephoto focal lengths on your zoom lens. This is also a great opportunity to use a fast 50mm prime lens in the low light conditions.
