New Title - Just a Meet Up and killing it! (Ableton Colorado)

VENUE CHANGE!!!! 7Aug2011

VINYL MAIN FLOOR!!!

We have access to the Cues Room at City Hall Vinyl MAIN FLOOR!  This is an 18+ event and will be combined with the growing nonfest idea - the nonfest idea is the bread above and below the meet-up sandwich.  This is an excuse to...

  • have 2 musical performers
  • break out groups
  • multiple projectors set up for anyone to drop visuals on
  • increased crossover with platforms other than Ableton
  • more new ideas
  • more open platform for talks in the scope of the nonfest

Our core meet up will remain the same - beginner+intermediate+end game presentations. So far here is what we have scheduled:

Mark Mosher will be previewing some material he is using for Electro Music 2011 as a performer.

For the Beginner level discussion I ( Marc) will discuss scene and clip launching. Special thx to Max R for giving me some good points to cover. I will put full details out soon.

Intermediate : We have Jeremiah Stanley joining us for to discuss adding additional channels in the Mac Operating system.  THIS IS A CRITICAL DISCUSSION AND LESSON FOR DJS! In short he will show you how to make a few simple changes to your core audio to provide an independent monitoring channel. Awesome for the stereo break out boxes that don't have a channel to cue!!! Do not miss this talk!

END GAME : Chase Dobson will be joining us on 7 Aug to talk about his experiences on tour tech-ing Ableton. Topics such as redundancy, reality of live shows, and other tid-bits from the front line. We are going to try and record this part for a podcast. James is our tech.

After the presentations I will host a break-out group and train on my APC40 Template - this is the last time I will present this before I go to NYC to present with Dubspot!

Also - we are going to tighten the up the presentations!  30 min each, max, period.  They are intended to fire off fast and we are going to push this harder!

We had some crowd fall off as sub-talks that made the later presentations lighter on the crowd. I will take responsibility for that issue.  I usually don't present at meet ups - and when I do I have a bad habit of hiding out after I speak. People followed me (I think). NO MORE!

I will suck it up and not vanish!

So everyone get on board with me - let's get these presentations OUT and then we will put the speakers in the back to answer detailed questions and elaborate one on one after the core presentations.

Sample Swap! Bring yo' samples! - no kidding!

Also - email me if you want to present or want to see a presentation!

I will drop an update soon as these things evolve!

This was my first time making it to one of the gatherings. Really enjoyed meeting and hearing from others in the group! Thank you Marc for taking time to put this all together! Look forward to future events!
