App / Jam Session with guest Doctor Popular

This meetup will be themed around apps and gadgets.

7:00 - 7:30pm: People arriving and socializing. Open Mic Sign-up begins.

7:30 - 7:45pm: Ocean Beach Studio co-owners Victor and Blake will speak and answer questions about the history of the studio and their digital music experience.

7:45 - 8:00pm: Guest Speaker: SF electronic artist Doctor Popular (@DocPop). Doc Pop's album Beeps and Smudges was created entirely using iOS apps, and he performs with circuit-bent instruments and toys. http://docpop.bandcamp.com/

8:00 - 8:30pm: Open mic for announcements and individual song performances.

8:30 - 10:00pm: Networking, drinks, and app jam session.

For the final two hours of the meetup, we will have a minibar in the lounge room (tips encouraged), and we will open up the garage, back lawn, and patio areas for indoor/outdoor networking and socializing. During this time we will also be setting up instruments and microphones in the studio for an app/jam session.

Attendees are encouraged to bring your mobile music apps, laptops, synth gadgets, and other digital music devices to plug in to our amps and speakers. We will also have digital and analog instruments available in the studio for you to play.

To keep things sane we will ask that no more than 5 or 6 people play at once and that people swap out periodically to give a chance to everyone who wants to jam.

Please RSVP so we know how many to expect.

Hi Everyone, I'm really looking forward to tonight! I have to teach in San Mateo a little later than I thought, but I'll be there around 8:15/8:30. My duo partner, a violinist named Matthias will be there at 7:00.

Note I also posted this on Eventbrite and we'll probably have another 5 or ten folks join from there so it should be great (though I can't make it myself).

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
