Let's head up to Bear Mountain to participate in their Oktoberfest on Sunday Oct 20th starting around noon.
Lets plan to get there a bit earlier than noon to avoid the traffic, food/beer lines, and huge crowds! Carpooling will start in lower Westchester by 10:15am at the Fleetwood Train Station in Mt. Vernon. You can set up other carpooling groups further north in Westchester...
Bear Mountain has been celebrating Octoberfest for many years, and this year will be fabulous because both the Inn and their restaurant are open - finally -- after 7 years of renovations to the building!
So let's enjoy Fall in the most perfect way - with Oktoberfest 2013 at Bear Mountain State Park! German Food and Beer, Traditional Entertainment, Local Artisan Craft Vendors.....and much, much more. Free admission. $8 per vehicle parking fee. Beer/soda/water and food are available for purchase.
We are going on this date so we can see dSb (die Schlauberger) America’s #1 German Festival Band with Die Erste Gottscheer Dance Group. Through the years, traveling from state to state and festival to festival, this outstanding group of men entertain audiences of all ages. Their energy and “get involved” attitude lets everyone join in the fun of the festivities. They are known as the alternative to Oompah. Their impressive body of work includes an album which was nominated for the 2001 JP Folks Music Awards. The group has had the honor of performing the American National Anthem at Shea Stadium as well as Giants Stadium. Their presence in the music community has resulted in a 2004 National Network Television Commercial for Hewlett Packard’s IPOD.
They are NOT an OOOompa Band - but a German folk and rock band.. they will get you up and dancing!!
So, let's go have some fun, the leaves will be in prime color, the beer will flow, the food will be yummy, and the music will get your heart going!
If folks want to carpool, please note in the comments and we'll set something up..
See you there! -
