Formosa Restaurant

Some people have requested going to an Asian restaurant...I picked Chinese! I really have been searching hard for an authentic Chinese restaurant in CT like the ones in NY, but most have americanized Chinese foods or fusion cuisine. One that stands out is Formosa Restaurant. If my Chinese parents like it, it must be good! Formosa has the typical Chinese and sushi menu, but if you are adventuresome, there is the delicious, authentic Chinese menu (mainly Szechuan and Chengdu cuisine, also a hot pot menu). Please go to their website to look at the menu: http://www.restaurant...
They are very accomodating and told me that they can make something if it is not on the menu. Please be courteous and show up if you RSVP "yes" because sometimes there are people wait listed who don't have the chance to go. I hope to see you there. (only 40 min. from Hartford) Xie xie!

We should have family style more often at these events. Price was cheaper since we split the bill and it was fun to try different dishes. We ordered from the authentic Chinese menu for the most part. Ma po tofu and spicy beef were soo tender and yummy! Dan dan noodles was delicious too. And they know how to serve Chinese banquet style with huge serving bowl of soup in the center of the lazy susan.

Thanks to everyone who attended. It was a lot of fun sharing family style and I am glad Formosa's food did not disappoint. (After all, the famous forensics guy, Dr. Henry Lee eats here.) Everyone was nice to share and it made it easy to split the bill. They even ran out to get Chinese vegetables as requested by one of the diner's. Maybe we can do this again at a different Chinese restaurant in the future!

Wow! Wow! Best MA-PO ToFu I have had anywhere! Soup was excellent, Mei Fun was the bomb. Beef with Choy Sum was to die for. Dan Dan noodles what can I say but another wow! Gai Lan was very very good but not quite the equal of Niu Kee in Montreal http://www.montrealmirror.com/ARCHIVES/2003/111303/resto.html
This is one very authentic Chinese restaurant which is a very rare commodity here in Connecticut. What an awesome group of people it is ways a joy to get together and share a meal. Thanks so much Audry, you know I have been looking forward to this for a very long time and you surely didn't disappoint!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
