Join us as we run Raptor Ridge! The official 1/2 marathon isn't till October, but we don't need an excuse to run on this fantastic trail. The 13 mile course is an out-and-back, mostly flat except for the "little" hill they call Raptor Ridge!
If you want more miles you can easily make it 20 by continuing past the normal turn-around point and run all the way to the San Pasqual trailhead before turning back. If you're running Lake Hodges 50k this is a perfect training run.
Bring plenty of fluids and nutrition - the course is unsupported with the exception of a porta-potty near the start.
Here's a course profile for the 1/2 marathon trail run. We start at the Sunset Drive trailhead, run out & over Raptor Ridge all the way to the farm road off of Bandy Canyon. From there we turn around and retrace our steps.
And here's the longer 20 mile option. Note that I started & finished at the San Pasqual trailhead for that particular run - remember we will be on the opposite side this time:
Directions: From north or south take the 15 and get off on Via Rancho Parkway eastbound like your'e going to Wild Animal Park or the Escondido Westfield Mall. Then take your first right on Sunset Drive and go all the way to the end where you'll see the trailhead. There's a small parking lot and plenty of street parking. I forgot to mention there's a convenience store on the corner of Sunset in case you need supplies.
See you Saturday!
